so disappointed to hear the results of this, been lurking for a while.

Will definitely be bringing mine in for this issue but I havent had the time and wish it would have been in the summer. Do you guys think they will even accept the car in the winter? Its not warm here at all

I brought mine in today and they didn't even hesitate when I asked about it. Will follow up after I get it back.

Not sure if this is the place to post this but here it goes.

Earlier this week I bought some premier trim seat covers from New Take Off (great company BTW) Anyway, I replaced my base 401a leather with the better leather.
When I had the bottom seats off I noticed that the drivers seat did not have the same assembly as the passenger. See picture. It is the white thing that looks to be a gel filled membrane to hold heat or cool. Has anyone had theirs off and can verify that they are in fact supposed to be similar or different?

If it is messed up, how do you take it in and tell them that it is missing. They will either think I messed it up and want them to fix it or I would have to tell them there is a problem with either heating or cooling retention.

Anyway it is not worth a fight with Ford for me as I would just buy the piece (if truly should be there) and install.

On another note. If you want to replace your leather or cloth, PM me with questions as I learned a few things that will save you a few trim pieces. BTW - my old leather is sold.

So the driver's side didn't have the big light blue piece that covers the whole bottom seat area? I see the white oblong shaped outlet for the heater/cooler unit located about in the center of the seat bottom.

I believe that pad was mentioned before and it was suggested that it's part of the airbag system - the weight sensor. I suppose it might only be necessary on the passenger seat since the driver side is probably always activated. You could maybe check the Ford parts site and see if that pad is shown on both seats or not

That is true. My seats seemed to work but found it curious that it was not the same. The next post brings light that it might be a scale of some sort for the airbag. I did not notice if it was electrical or not. Where can I find the schematic of the seats?

But do your upper seat backs cool after being ran for 20+ minutes?
I can't answer this as I really don't know for sure. I guess I will look into this today. Sorry that everyone has these issues. I hate taking a car to the dealer as it is the ultimate pain in the ass.

Yes. Way back on post #570. :D

'Possible what you are calling a gel pad, is the occupant detection sensor for the pass. airbag.

I know in the past the sensors have been a "bladder" type with a pressure sensor to detect if someone is sitting there.'

Too bad you couldn't bet the TSB fix kits, and just install the mod yourself while your seats are out. Maybe you can purchase the kits from the dealer if you have the part number(s).

I'm happy to say that my 16 GT seat back still doesn't get as cold as the bottoms but they don't get nearly as hot. I haven't really had a chance to use them much so that's subject to change.

Maybe Ford got the modification that the TSB does into 2106 production now.

I have a 2016 and the cooled seats work*, however I have noticed that even on shorter trips around 10-15 miles that the cooling was reduce substantially. Better than being off, but not as good as when it started.

Your seat backs get as cold as the bottoms? Have you used them continuously for more than 20 minutes?
So I've been testing this out for almost a month and my seat backs are as cold as the bottom...at least on the driver side. I dont have many passengers. My drive into work is 45 mins to an hour with traffic each way.

My partners 2015 Tundra 1794 Edition cooled seats are 10x better than the Mustang, oh well its a $55k truck. What else can I expect from a cheap car...
