Cooled seats not cooling

It should be a fairly simple part really. Can be plastic. Clips onto the fan unit with a rubber seal against it and a hose to the bottom of the seat. Page 28 in this thread shows the mockup.

I'm sure a ton of people here would buy it, even at $50 each side (separate just because some of us are single and dont care about the passenger seat really- I would only do the driver personally since no one sits in the passenger seat). It's well worth the cost if it fixes it by even 1/2 to what it should be.

You made me sad... Fix both sides, you'll meet someone someday.

If you provide and fabricate a working, effective solution I am definitely ordering! I was really looking forward to having cool sears. I bet you could get hundreds of orders if it works!

- The "Premium" sound system absolutely sucks, its considerably worse than the stock sony system in my previous focus
- Seatbacks arent powered, even when one opts to spend an extra $1800 for the memory seats...err seat (along with blind spot and another subpar sound system upgrade)

suddenly the 4k for the premium model seems like its a bit of a rip...The point of this complaining is that if Ford doesn't address a fix for this seatback issue, I am at the tipping point of getting a Base model the next time around and the heck with these half assed upgrades on a $35,000 car (and more so for others). $4K would be much better spent elsewhere

Im in for an aftermarket fix. The cooled seats were one of the most excited features the mustang had but was sadly disappointed at the performance. I turn them on every now and again and barely notice a difference.

It's actually more than $4k when you consider that many people would have bought the V6 instead of the base EB.

Since everyone's talking about it, I figured I'd share. I've been contemplating how best to do this and working on the 3D models for awhile now and decided it would be a fun adventure to get a 3D printer. A bad stepper motor derailed me for a bit, but I got it up and running yesterday and was able to do some prototyping.

My goal was to create something simple for the intake and the waste exhaust that could be installed without removing the blower unit from the seat and could also be easily removed should an official fix come along. It would still require a little blind, one-handed work to put them on, but would hopefully still be easier than taking the blower out. The one downside is that the current deflector on the intake side has to stay attached. It seems like it's somewhat obstructing of the airflow, but hopefully not too much. It does give something for the attachment to hook onto though.

See photos attached for where I'm at with them. Excuse the green – I'm doing the rough stuff with it before switching to black. It is better for the pictures though. I haven't bothered to clean up the stringy pieces of plastic, so please excuse those as well.

They still need some refining to get the best fit, but are pretty close. I've only done the pieces that attach to the unit itself and haven't figured out what I want to do about the tubing out of them. The guy over at the F150 site finally shared an image of what he's done and he used flexible hoses (I think it's around page 166-167 – looks like pool vacuum hose). That idea is kind of appealing since the space in the back of the seats is an odd shape and I don't think we can have a tube that just drops straight down. I'm going to try and do it with the hard plastic though.

The intake attachment is pretty much what Droid Junky has done for his. It won't be as airtight, but I'm thinking that neither the intake or exhaust needs to be. Maybe some rubber/silicone edge trim would help, but they aren't really sucking or blowing that hard that it will make that much of a difference. The exhaust attachment will definitely need to be zip tied on. I'm hoping the intake won't need to be.

I haven't actually tried attaching either to the blower inside the seat, so might need to adjust once I see how that goes. The intake might not need to be as deep as it is. The exhaust just needs a support added to keep it from tipping back and some minor sizing tweaks. I'm going to drive home tonight with the passenger one outside of the seat with these attachment to see how it goes.

Isn't it sad when owners have to start coming up with fixes for their cars, when ford doesn't acknowledge or do anything about it... For the F-150 yes. But not for the mustang. :(

Do you plan tubing only the intake, and let the hot air inside the seatback - even if probably getting the air from outside the seat will higly reduce the amount of exhaust hot air ..

According to the F150 forum, there is a TSB for the trucks. I Can't find any other info on it though. Nothing on the NHTSA website.

I just received word a Technical Service Bulletin was released this afternoon regarding the lack of cooling in the seat backs for some 2015 F150’s. The TSB is 15-0140 and I verified it does affect your VIN. Although TSB 15-0140 does appear to be the correct repair for your concern, unfortunately I am not a technician and I cannot guarantee it. A Ford dealership would need to diagnose the concern in order to ensure the TSB will correct it.
