Hey guys, quick question.. i have a cobb cai and bov.. and just put mbrp race catback on too. I also unplugged the ANC mic in the back.. now that you know that, is it normal for the cold air intake noise to be sooo loud? I can barely hear my exhaust note over the sound of it guzzling in air😂 its not a terrible noise but its also not a really good noise either. Is that normal or should i be checking for leaks or something? It serious just sounds like its taking in the air its supposed to but man its loud😂 any advice would help:) thanks in advance!

For future reference, don't make 3,672 changes to your car, all in one sitting, unless you are building it from scratch. Do one or two things, check it, THEN do more stuff.

Makes it really hard to figure out what is causing something when 12 things have been changed.

Did you remove the Seuss-a-Phone?

Sound tube.

Good, no clues about the stangs eco boost but the truck I had was quite loud intake wise.

Good luck.

The noise cancellation on the back helps re-create specific frequencies to overshadow some engine and road noises through the speakers, so technically it is normal that the car sounds chaotically louder if you have this disconnected in the cabin

If it's as loud as yer describing, then it's pretty restrictive.

Do you recommend upgrading? Its in a closed off box too so it seems like it would be pretty restrictive.

Kinda, frankly it's up to you. I think the ANC was set to tone certain undesired sound based off the existing OEM exhaust/intake/turbo sound. Anything that alters the db levels or existing frequencies sound of the car may not be properly acoustically tuned by the ANC.

For instance, when I have it disconnected, I can certainly hear the intake or turbo "Whoosh" in throttle when windows are down or up, plus the cabin takes in more engine and muffler noise at specific RPM since there is nothing cancellation those sounds, biggest obvious is the injector or timing valve sound lol on idle

Although when plugged, it does make the cabin sound more luxurious and tone down the exhaust sound more than the engine sound. It all depends on the upgrades you did, not everything will sound the same (exhausts, intakes, tunes etc) This is similar feature on ANC headphones/earbuds, literally same stuff.

It would be amazing if we could adjust or customize the ANC behaviour some day but I don't think this is going to happen, who knows.

Also ANC and the "fake" engine sound replica is two different things so if you still have the fake engine sound enabled, you should disable it via forscan so that you can keep the ANC and have a good balance of sound deadening + sound

Thank you for explaining that. I honestly had no clue, i just followed what everyone else said and unplugged it lol. Im going to get forscan and get it turned off that way and see if i notice a difference. Weird enough as it is, most performance guys are going back to the oem airbox anyways with a k&n performance filter. Might cut my intake sounds down by a ton i would think?

I have a Roush closed cold air intake on my 2021 2.3 High Performance Package and it does not make a lot of noise, the only time you hear it is on a cold start up for about the first minute then it quiets down. You don't hear a rush of air noise other wise. I also have a Turbosmart EM Kompact Dual Port blow off valve installed along with a CNC machined MAP intercooler. The engine also has a Cobb 2.3 HPP OTS tune in it. I also installed the Autometer single gauge A Pillar with a Banks Power iDash Super Gauge to monitor different items.
