Hello everyone,
I’ve been looking into cold air intake systems because I think the stock air box is really quiet and I’d like to have some more induction noise coming from my car.
I’m already aware that cold air intakes aren’t power “optimal” and that it’s better to stick with the stock air box with an AirRaid intake tube and a better filter if I want to make more power.
My question is, based on these photos of the ETS Intake system and the location of the intake filter itself (being infront of the driver side wheel, right behind the functional air vents in the front bumper), do you guys think this intake would draw hot air? I spoke with a guy on the Ecoboost subreddit who actually owns the intake and runs it on his 2016 convertible and he said that he cut a real vent out of the “fake” vents on the pre-facelift front bumper (which I won’t have to do because the same vents on the non-PP 2018+ cars are actually functional) and that his worst temp readings were about 1 degree hotter than the outside temperature, and that at travel speeds, they were perfect.
However, quite a few people who don’t actually own the intake were leaving comments on my thread telling me that it’s a horrible idea and would heat soak the car, that the lower positioning would be useless in preventing the intake from taking in hot air, that there would be a “severe” or “noticeable” decrease in power etc. (directly contradicting what the guy who actually owns the intake has said about it)
I wanted to get on here to ask for a second opinion and hopefully find some more people who’ve actually owned this intake/run it on their car because I’ve only heard good things from the guy who actually has it, and the only negative comments have come from people who don’t have one.
Thanks guys!
