Think that was it!!!!

Yea the noise is key! I love the sound of the intake and extra turbo noise! That would be why I wanted to do it for sure

I have the K&N on my car and while the sound is absolutely awesome, the IATs are not. With the stock intake my IATs were usually 1-3 degrees from ambient, but with the K&N I have never been able to get the difference to be less than 15 degrees. It's even worse in stop and go traffic. I've seen my IATs rival coolant temps now.

I think I'll be trying something else soon.

I wonder if the temperature increase has to do with it letting more, of the hotter, air in?

this being the main reason why I most likely won't switch

So on my 20 mile drive home from work the coolest I saw it was 116f (on the freeway at 75mph). Ambient was 93-94f.

Once I got off the freeway onto the surface streets at 40mph it crept up to 135f. Ambient went down to 92f. By the time I was pulling into my garage it was at 151f.

The stock airbox assembly draws air from behind the grills, the K&N draws air from the engine bay (despite the half-assed attempt of a heat shield).

I think I will switch to a true cold air style intake and I will wrap the piping with heat wrap to help keep it cooler.

The airaid on my car keeps the temps right around ambient temp, and on cooler nights i have seen lower...

I've been happy with my green filter, nice sound, don't like too much noise, I think anyone I drive by can hear turbo way better over stock any day, but will check on temps, and compare stock over green filter, ..stock filter would be equivalent to sticking Cotten balls in your nose and trying to breath lol, .. green filter combined with Torries tune really made a difference for me.

The MAP cai I have goes right in front of the drivers side wheel so it seems to avoid all the extra engine heat. :headbang: MAP!

Most gains are from the filter itself. As for the AIT>that's also depending on how the sensor is mounted.

Here's the thread on our JLT system. There's test results not only from us but also independent testing from Revolution automotive.

We've tested both on manual and automatic car's with similar results, one of the car's we tested is actually a members car here where he was there for the testing. impulsed7 is his username if I recall correctly.

Link directly to Revo's graphs if you're lazy :)

As for the IAT's yes they will increase at slower speeds and sitting in traffic over the stock sealed box. However they will also cool faster once you are moving. With the stock box you are restricted to the single inlet for all of the air flow and a relatively small filter. Gains are gains, and well it looks a hell of a lot better too

It certainly looks better there is no doubt there.

So this is the video I was talking about

They did this flat out, and I always see all these huge dyno gains on all the companies websites. For example.. I own an IS300 and there is a company called SRT and they claim upwards of 24 horse power... Yet the true dynoes of the customers elsewhere and after the fact never showcase gains like this...

Tuning this car is worth it for sure, but I'm not yet sold on CAI anymore

I bought my CAI mainly for the look of it and the sound. Stock the car is soo quiet I started to seriously think I had made a mistake in buying this car at all. After exhaust and CAI I felt much better. I've not noticed any increase in IAT's on my car.

As far as the look... I'm not a fan of having huge filters, boxes, and painted stuff under the hood but I just prefer the look of the CAI.

Stock

Vs an FFtec...
