Hello, I'm looking for some advice on a new clutch for my car. Currently at 30k on the stock one, but I am adding a blower to the car in the next few weeks and I feel it's probably best to upgrade now rather than wait until it leaves me stranded.

I'm looking at 550-600 wheel with a TVS 2300 kit. My budget had to include a lot so I'm having a hard time swallowing $2000 for a Mantic when there are other options available. I know how to change a clutch but I don't have the space available so install costs figure in. I also have a solid driveshaft waiting to be installed.

I'd like organic disk and sprung hub, would prefer a twin disk as well just because I may add more power in the future. Looking at the options it seems like Ram has a few and Centerforce has one I'm interested in as well (the exedy ET04 looks good too but possibly too aggressive). Does anyone have any other suggestions? I won't be doing any drag racing or launches or anything super hard on it.

I like the Mcleod RST with their lightened steel flywheel.

I’ve run the Mantic 9000 dual organic and loved that with my Whipple’d mt82. It was butter smooth and very quiet with awesome pedal feel. Absolutely loved everything about that clutch while I had it. I have since upgraded to a Tremec Magnum XL transmission and considered changing the discs to 26 spline organic but I needed to get the weight back up since I went with a 2.66 first gear so now I’m on a pro series Ram twin organic disc setup that I’m very happy with as well. Besides the disc size and weight, the main difference that makes me like the Mantic more is that both of those discs were sprung hub. The Rams flywheel disc is solid with the supporting disc sprung so I get small inherent noises occasionally but this has no effect on performance. The Centerforce model also has dual sprung hub discs and is very popular in the GT500 forum and might be something for you to read about.
My current advice is use your stock clutch as long as you can. I ran mine for well over a year before I changed it out and still had the Whipple. It really surprised me how well it did. I never got slip till I passed the 750rwhp range (more modding) and that was only near the top rpm range. Also consider just using a single disc setup like the Exedy Mach 500. I don’t do hard launches or do 1/4 mile runs either but I do run road course so you will be more than fine with any of those including the stock clutch.

I’ve run the Mantic 9000...
Thanks for the info. The Mantic was my first choice maybe I should just save up some more and ride the stock clutch out until then. Its having some issues already so I don't know how long it will last though.

Thanks. Unfortunately this is one I'm specifically looking to avoid. I've had a bad time with Mcleod stuff before and I want a sprung hub.
I won't try to convince you then. I've just had great luck with McLeod on several applications. My blown '05 Mustang and '66 Corvette big block.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have looked at this some more. I'm still not sold on the solid hub but it seems to work well for a lot of people and is affordable.

I can tell you that engagement is super smooth because of the twin discs if that's a concern. Some guys with RXT setups complain about a little chatter, but not the RST at least in my case and a few I've installed in my garage for people.

I can say the Exedy is a nice clutch, but it’ll be too harsh for you. It’s almost an on/off switch, and it bites hard. It doesn’t play well with the MT82, and it contributed to my 4th gear letting go. Bill with Exedy recommended a different clutch, and I should’ve listened. Great company, great support... wrong clutch for your setup in my opinion. They recommended the Mach 500 for my setup.

I’m contemplating a switch.
