Car won't accelerate any higher than 80mph. IT'S QUITE ANNOYING!! I have two key fobs and it shows that I have two admin keys in my settings. Really about ready to throw in the towel with this car.

Gen 3 mustang gt with the 10 speed trans...

Any advice or help would be much appreciated! What am I missing here? I keep hearing key fobs, key fobs, key fobs. Is there something else that could be causing this limp mode or speed limiter to cut me off at 80mph?

Thanks!

Per google Ai, may help: "A 2018 Mustang GT limited to 80 mph is likely in a safety-induced "limp mode" caused by a wheel speed sensor fault, ABS issue, or MagneRide suspension failure. Other causes include a Body Control Module (BCM) recall issue, active MyKey restrictions, or the car being stuck in transport mode."

You sound frustrated. Take a breath and calm down some. Your frustration will only hinder describing what's going on and we'll need more information to make suggestions. What you're experiencing can have several causes so if you could answer as many of these questions it will help us help you.

Model year and milage?
Is the car stock?
If not, what mods?
Is it tuned? Tuner?
Has any software been altered with Forscan?
Any lights on in the dash? Check engine, traction, airbag, anything?
Any recent service, repairs, maintenance, accidents, etc?

Have you scanned for codes? Taken it anywhere else besides internet troubleshooting?

Agree with the above, take a few breaths, say Woo Sah a few times, and provide as much information as you can. Or take it to a shop and tell them what is going on to help you troubleshoot.

I’ve been here before. Let me share what worked for me. In doing so, all that I ask is that you come back and let us know if this takes care of the issue for you, so that others can benefit as well. Thanks

Before you embark on the DIY mod, try cleaning your ABS sensor rings (see post #3). If they’re gunked up, this can prevent the sensors from taking a reading off of the ABS rings. Just spray them down with brake and parts cleaner and wipe them down with a micro fiber towel. Once that’s done, drive the car about 50-60 miles and give the PCM a chance to reevaluate the system and see if the fault clears. If not, move onto the DIY mod listed below.

IIRC the fobs can be programmed for valet use or “kid” use and to a certain speed/rpm limitation…. I couid be wrong, but I’m pretty sure this was discussed a few years ago.

Agreed, I would be checking here first to make sure the speed limiter, or whatever it's called, isn't enabled.

Yes, you can set MyKey for certain things. I believe top speed is one of them. It’s in the gauge cluster menu

2019 GT
Boosted with twins
Tuned yes for 93 and e85
Hasn't been altered since I have had the car
No lights on the dash
Just recently started acting this way or at least I haven't noticed it since a month ago.

Update:

Just drove the car with a scan tool and observed wheel speed sensor data. Everything looked accurate with the speeds compared to the actual vehicle speed. Nothing erratic going on. And no abs or engine codes/light other than UO122-00 and U2100-00. My tuner said those were nothing to worry about though and are common.

Also went into the menu settings and cleared any my keys and both keys are listed as admin keys now.

Vehicle still stops at 80mph like the car won't accelerate any higher and the gas pedal just feels like air..

Could this be a tuner issue? My tuner said he doesn't have any idea what could be causing it so idk wth is going on!

Does it pull normally all the way to 80? Is it exactly 80? What I’m trying to ask is whether exactly 80 is some sort of hard limit, like a software thing, or if there’s some underlying issue causing loss of performance. I would think a mechanical or electrical problem would lead to a “softer” limit, not exactly 80.0 mph.

Yes accelerates fine and shifts fine but on the interstate once it gets to 80 it is just stops pulling. Almost feels like a cruise control limiter. Even when going downhill it will not go any higher than 80mph. Craziest thing I have ever seen

Just a couple of thoughts.

Have you considered data logging when it happens and sending the log to your tuner? Perhaps he can see something you can't with a scan tool.

If you suspect it may be fob related you might consider contacting a good locksmith. If they have the ability to program keys to your car then they can delete all fobs associated with the car and reinstall/pair them to the car. That should clear any settings or control they had.
