Has anyone actually compared the Bullitt's exhaust to a regular GT with Active Exhaust? I know Ford has said it has a specific sound, but I've never seen where anyone actually compared them.

If it is like the Mach1 it's really just down to a different muffler.

Back at the launch about a year ago people were asking the chief engineer about this. I believe he said the muffler setup is the same and that it was the GT350 intake components that gave it it's unique sound. But then I also heard somewhere that the exhaust was different. It's still a mystery to me, but they 100% have a different sound from a regular GT. I've driven a 2018 GT with the Active Exhaust for a couple hours and the sound is distinctly different. The Bullitt sounds cooler :)

Hopefully someone will do a video comparison soon.

Dave Born- senior engineer covers some of the differences around the 8:30 mark. He does state there are differences between exhausts but he doesn't go into too much detail.

as far as you know has anyone changed the standard intake of a regular GT with the GT350 one? If yes: is there any considerable change in terms of sound and hp? In your opinion would it have any sense to evaluate this as a "fall-back option" in case the Bullitt order will not work?

by the way: very nice vid on youtube !

If nothing else, the GT350 intake doesn't have the sound tube connection that the standard GT does, so the Bullit doesn't get the amplified intake hiss through the firewall via the tube.

Doesn't the Bullit have synthesised sound pumped through the speakers instead of the sound tube in the GT? That could be the difference, at least inside the car.

Thanks! I'm sure a few people have put the Shelby intake on their GTs but I haven't heard any impressions yet. I think the whole Bullitt package is worth waiting for, especially since it's the only way to get green, but mechanically it's easy to install the Shelby parts if that's the Bullitt feature you're most interested in.

There may be some type of electronic sound enhancement that changes it slightly, but with the windows down it still sounds different, leading me to believe the main sound differences are real, not faked.

From a Wards Auto article about the best engine of 2019. Someone got access to the parts catalog that can detail any differences in part numbers? (mufflers obviously different due black tips).

I searched FordParts.com and cant find any parts that mention being BULLITT specific yet. It's easier to find PP L2 and 50th Anniver parts than BULLITT parts

I'm pretty sure the GT350 intake runners are shorter not longer. The F150's are longer.

Shorter = better high rpm HP. Longer = better low rpm TQ.

so the answer is - no one knows?
If you go through every piece of Ford material (brochures, website, order guide, etc.), there's absolutely no mention of it.

They talk about the color of the brakes. They talk about contrasting stitching on the seats. They talk about the special intake manifold. But the exhaust? Aside from mentioning the color of the exhaust tips, there's not a word about it beyond the fact that the Bullitt comes with the Active Exhaust system.

3rd party mentions really aren't that valid, because often those articles are based on rumor and "so-an-so said" type information. In fact, that Wards's article above just talks about it having the "freer flowing active exhaust", which you can get on the GT (and EcoBoost, for that matter).

If the Bullitt exhaust system had any differences, you would expect Ford to talk about it. As they don't, it would seem that there is no difference.
