"Need": 'Heat shield is the issue'... For many new owners, there were/are a lot more issues than just the heat shield! I was hoping that if they were going to keep my convertible in FR for 4 weeks or longer...they would have had time for their QC people to take a second look at them. If I finally get my car with a 'fixed' heat shield...but panels misaligned/leather stretched-torn/rattles all over, etc. etc...No way am I buying it. It is getting late enough in the model year...I will wait to see how well the 2016s are built.

They didn't say but not all information is always 100%. So I'm aswell hoping on them checking the hole car before shipping. And yes if the car is bad then I'll wait to. I like to stay positive about this and thimg the car will be ok on pick up day.

Tsunami, I am not trying to dispute you at all, but you say it is the heat shield with a lot of confidence. Since this whole thing started a month ago, we have heard people report from dealers, Ford reps, friends who have inside info, etc. etc.. And all have different reasons for this "Hold". Why are you so sure it is the heat shields? where did you get your info from, and why is it more credible than any of the other reports?
I too, thought I had some "inside info" 3 weeks back. And for all I know, it could be correct, But I don't know that for a fact. Too much bad info has come of this.
At this point, I am not sure I would believe anything I hear. Even if I got a PM from the CEO of Ford Motor Company....Too much time has passed. Too much time for them to come up with an answer to try and placate us all.....Only time you get a true answer, is when they tell you right off the "Bat". The longer they take....The more you can bet it is a lie.
No offense to you Tsunami. I am just way to skeptical at this point. I blame the news media, and politicians for my distrust.........Oh, and certainly Social Media (face book, twitter) paly a major role in spreading Bad info...

I'm the one that heard this. I know this and other information about the hold is out there. im not saying that I'm 100% correct. I'm just passing the word of what I heard. The main thing for me is that I have a estimated delivery date now.
cotus is a joke and social media is great!

Ok sorry for the wrong messenger. I understand that you are just passing along info that you heard. And although I respect your opinion. I stand true to my comments on social media my friend..... And I also agree with you that COTUS (in its current state) is a joke!

I was digging around in other forums for QC hold issues from Ford. I found this one that deals with their trucks and thought I'd share it with everyone:

I work at dearborn truck plant and anytime that there is a quality hold on vehicles it is usually caused by some sort of problem with a certain part from a parts vendor and we will actually backlog a certain number of trucks that were built before the parts issue is found just to make sure that those trucks are not affected by that issue. You must understand that we build 66 trucks an hour and on average for 1 day production between two shifts is 1270 trucks built,so when you think of that with all of the orders that come in between dealers in U.S. and exported trucks, that is why it can take so long to get a truck. We have three shifts producing this truck just at dearborn and two shifts at Kansas city and we still cant build enough trucks to keep up with orders.Ford is very serious about quality and that is why they will put a hold on trucks before they release them to the dealers.

"JoeStang": I have no problem with a 'hold' to fix a problem. I don't think that it takes a full four weeks to fix EACH vehicle, most of the time the car will just be sitting there. Which is why I was hoping that FORD QC would take the time to look over these sitting vehicles and double check for the 'other' problems that seem to plague these cars. But...nope...take a 'day' to fix the single problem...ship them out weeks later...let the dealers take care of the other defects.

Jumping into the the fray. This forum has been excellent - thought I may as well contribute. As a member of the 4000 my dealer can only tell me "I see what you see" i.e. COTUS. His calls up the chain came back with a "bad part" hold with no release or delivery dates. He has little sympathy for my plight - I guess I negotiated too good a deal for him to take interest.

I too sent the useless e-mail to Ford - no answer yet. As a lifelong Ford owner I don't know how to feel about this - never ordered a car before. The dealer told me Flat Rock had 30,000 2013 Fusions with bad headlights sitting at Flat Rock at one point. Guess it's not uncommon but sucks huge nonetheless.

COTUS showed my car Awaiting Shipment for weeks and then last week went to Delivered just like many of you. I never got an updated EDD of any kind.

Ford; Jeff or Rachel; We appreciate all you do for us.

As you can see, the patience is running out on the 'Hold from Hell'.

My dealer has less information than I do, I contacted Ford Corporate, etc ....
How do we escalate this and get answers?

I'm in no hurry to get the car in Boston, but I do want to know hold info and an estimated date.

What should have been a happy and exciting event has turned into heartburn.

Since Rachel left Ford Service, the 'private messages' sent back seem have become simply 'boiler plate'. My requests have asked different questions, but for the last two weeks, the exact same wording with the exact same 'no information' has been sent back to me. I am wondering if Rachel was 'promoted' out her Ford Service position because she was releasing too much (meaning almost none) information.

That's exactly the way their responses were back when Rachel was away a few weeks ago.

My mission is to find the one person in Ford that actually cares (if that person exists).

I'll write/email all the way up to the board of directors. Beats looking at COTUS...

If this is typical of Ford and nobody in the whole corp gives a crap, maybe I don't want a Ford.
