seems to be entirely on how much i brake rather than mileage. here's after a short but spirited drive.

I switched my stock PP1 pads for the Z23's and really like them. Lower dust and i can still stop the car with my big toe.

Any idea on why Ford didn’t pony up for Brembos on the rear ? Are the ones on rear any good?
85% of your braking is front brakes, not necessary unless you want to wring that last bit of lap time out the car on the track maybe look at the gt350 conversion kit.

I had the z26 pads on my last mustang. I can't remember the last time I washed those wheels before I sold it! I just needed the extra stopping power and heat tolerance!
How is the pedal feel/initial bit with the Z26 pads, in comparison to the OEM pads?

Maybe not apples to apples; I have the Z23s. The pedal feel and initial bite are much more predictable/linear than the OEM pads, with no apparent loss of stopping power, and zero brake dust.

I agree. Probably not the popular opinion but i kinda wish the initial bite was a bit less yet. I still find myself getting whip lashed if im not careful. If your worried swapping the pads will cause your braking to suck trust me, it wont.

The Z23/26 pads are like normal car brakes. Low initial bite and get better with pedal pressure then get to optimum temp and are very good, It is a short window in the OP zone, definitely street pads. I like high initial bite so am constantly arguing with myself on dust or no dust.

OE pads put you through the windshield the first few times you touch the brakes.

My last mustang was the v6 variant, so the stock pads were rather sloppy. Going to the Z26 pads the initial bite is consistent with the stock pads for the 4 pot GT brakes. So, for my application it was much better than stock. The bite is good when its cold and lasts pretty long into heavy use. But I do have to say those brakes don't give much warning when they give out. Its one minute they're working, the next you have no brakes heading down a mountain road, lol!

The pedal feel was also very good. Hard and engaged consistently, very little sponginess. However the can be annoying difficult to bed correctly. I had to send one set back after I followed their directions to the T and they glazed instantly.

1. that is normal
2. these brakes are insanely awesome
3. if you got the black wheels you have my condolences cause they need to be cleaned like every 150 miles lol
Man I feel that in my bones. The factory pads on the Brembo's dust like crazy. Like insane dust. And the PP wheels are next to impossible to keep clean, virtually no tool will fit between the caliper in to the barrel. Ugh. I upgraded to 20's and they are so much easier to clean..

I got the black wheels and I’m glad because you can’t really see the dust. I had a corvette with silver wheels and man you can see it and it looks horrible.!
thanks everyone for all the replies!

The only difference between the Z23s and Z26s is a backer plate for heat dissipation. I have Z23s on my wife's Acura MDX and Z26s on my GT350. The performance on the Acura from stock pads is outstanding. I used to get really annoyed having to drive her car... no more.

For the GT350, the initial bite when you first hit the brakes seemed a little softer than OEM. It was more pedal feel and I didn't really notice any issues stopping distance or power. After a few days I didn't notice it any more, so perhaps it was just break-in of the pads.

I have had them for several weeks and recommend the Z26s for price and no dust. I do not track my car; these pads are just fine for spirited driving.

Switched over to hawk performance ceramic pads for the front and rear on my PP1, man what a difference in brake dust and especially the dreaded squeak, went from sounding like bus to silently stopping again

not to mention saving my black wheels🤣

M5 comp used a single piston in the rear. As someone else mentioned the rear brakes aren't working very hard.

The GT350s and GT500s have them on the rears.... they have incredible braking power...but $$
Yes! I had to use the incredible braking power a few weeks ago when the person in front of me realized our single lane of cars was stopping, saved me from losing my GT350 for sure!
