My Bullitt came with the "Brake Plus" system that causes the brake light at the top of the car to flash while under braking. I don't like it and want to remove it. Anyone else buy a car that had this? It looks like a simple system but I'm not sure where they tap into the wiring for install.

The install guides are password protected on their web site (dealers only).

I'll dig around a bit and see what I can find.

YouTube has several installation videos for the Brake Plus system. Install seems very simple and should be very easy to remove. It should be located near where your third brake light wiring is easily accessible, either at the light itself or from the tail lights up the trunk area to the headliner. I'd start by searching under the trunk first and drop the rear seats, then trace the wires higher toward the headliner. I doubt they went under the rear headliner to install the module but who knows. You'll know the wires when you see them I suspect three taps into a two wire harness. Looks like they just tap into the positive and negative for the third brake light. Good luck.

I've had similar nonsense system installed on a (not Mustang) new car I bought - it's tuny piece of electronics typically tapped into (3rd) brake light circuit - and if you can find it, removing it is literally 5 seconds. You just need to find where it is.

The worst part of this is that hideous sticker.

Do people pay extra for that Dealer add-on stuff?

Yes!
This is one of those overpriced ($300) useless, garbage options dealers pressure you into buying when your filling out the paperwork on your new car.

Hey, if you're spending $50,000, what's another $300+ to keep you from getting cornholed in your brand new vehicle? LOL.

Another reason why dealers have a bad name.

They did it to me, and 4 years later, dealership in the same auto group is pulling it on my son.

My dealer attempted to sell me this as well, along with nitrogen in the tires. We agreed I'd pay 1/2 so they wouldn't install anything like it, while presenting a price both of us could accept.

The worst dealers install these items as add-ons without telling the client, until signing.

It's mandatory on every Telluride. There are people that actually want this.

I didn't pay a cent for it and it was first thing I removed at home (second was wheel locks which also was a dealer add on and I also did not pay for it - this was 2020 pre-covid so slightly different market though).

I don't get how people get "pressured" into addons and random stuff at signing lol (not directed at OP). I literally just said no man leave me alone :cwl:

Very easily - in the market where there is still scarcity of some sought after cars - like Hondas or especially Toyotas. You either but it with or go elsewhere and then good luck to you.

I agree 100%.

But I'm also the guy that bought my car off the lot and coughed-up an extra $1,000 for the worthless Safe & Smart Package that I did not want. Back in April of 2020, it's the only car I could find with all the options that I did want.

I found some instructions on the Brake Plus web site showing that it is generally installed right under the 3rd brake light. I'll pull the headliner down a bit and see if it's there. My gut says that the dealer took the easiest/laziest option available and may not have put it there.

I didn't pay a single penny for this. Long story short...the dealer agreed to an OTD price (over text) that didn't include the "mandatory" dealer add-ons (LoJack, Brake Plus, Cilajet). When I got there, these options added 6k to the price. I left and contacted the president. They gave me the car for the promised OTD price which required them to give me the add ons for free.

One of the sales guys that I talked to there told me that they generally make little money on the car itself and rely heavily on the "mandatory" add-on gimmicks for profit. Their mark up on those is gigantic.

Thanks,
Sonny

Exactly! Things seem to have cooled down a bit but it's still pretty bad. About 4 years ago, I bought a 2009 Honda Fit for my son for $1500. It needed a little TLC but no big deal. Last year, I was on a used lot looking at 2010 Fit with 100k miles for 11k! Crack pipe price. I checked a week later though and they had sold it.

For me, I really looked closed at the 1SS 1LE Camaro. Local dealer had one with 25k mark up. I laughed and left. It was gone the next day. I'm not sure how long (if ever?) things will go back to how they were.

Having been rear ended at least 5 times in my life, once on a motorcycle and twice in my Mustang, I wanted one. I got the same one I put on my bike and wired it to the 3rd brake light only. It was like $40 and 30ish minutes to install.
I don't know what the OP's particular device does but mine flashes the 3rd brake light 3 times then goes solid. For me it's piece of mind, much like a spare tire. Basically I'm good with anything that draws the person behind me attention.

Yep. Same here. 5:00 AM commute and most people on the (including me) are barely awake .....plus f'n TikTokers

Mine cost about $20 and took 5 minutes to "install" and no obnoxious sticker.

@bullittt Gently pull down the headliner at the 3rd brake light. There's probably a pigtail between the light and the OE wiring plug for the light.
