I did order catted Kooks. I really wanted ARH as that’s what I had on my ‘02. But the Kooks were on the shelf and for a tremendous deal.
@Atlas1 I wanted to be sure that the restriction/turbulent areas in the exhaust happen as far away from the head as possible.

My plan is to modify the SplitFire to a 3” inlet when the headers go on. For technical specs on the SF inlet is single 2” then it splits into 2x2” pipes on straight one crosses. The outlet is 2.5” Into factory.

I really like the Borla design when you look at it from a tuning exhaust stand point and the firing order of the 5.0 the straight plus the cross really work on solid fluid dynamics, Bernoulli’s principle is in full if not an exaggerated effect within the SplitFire pipe in my opinion.

All that said. I wanted to grab the GT500 Borla cat back being it is 3” from front to back. However $2700 for a cat back that possibly may have to be cut and welded to fit didn’t quite seem right. And no one I spoke with could confirm nor deny fitment and I have yet to get under a GT500 to measure.
Ive had my eyes on catted kooks for a couple months now. Can you hurry and get them installed to help with my decision? 🙂

Would rather not but I don’t want to drive around with a check engine light on either.
Unfortunately no tune shop will turn off the check engine light anymore.

Yes PDB I have E85 and a 93 in the works.
No need to turn the rear O2 off just use the O2 spacer from vibrant or others. I have them on my F150 3.5 ecoboost with high flow cats for this reason.

@Atlas1 I am working to get a car off the lift so I can get mine on the lift for the weekend.

As long as there is no light are there any risks running catted long tubes without a tune? If the car runs a little rich I wouldn’t worry too much

Even with a light there are no issues.

My Mach 1 is in the process of getting the Borla GT500 Atak exhaust installed with the Kooks long tubes. I’m curious how different it will sound compared to the 2 1/2” exhaust with the switch fire. I hope to pick the car up later this week.🤞🏻

Exactly what I wanted to do the GT500 cat back with the active mufflers... let me know what modifications happen to make that work.

I would plan to have some kind of mid pipe resonator even with catted headers. Many people underestimate the volume increase. I have experience with both catless and catted. Catless is significantly louder than catted but both options are still loud.

The parts should include the Kooks 2 3/4” elbows from the cats to the mid pipe, instead of the 2 1/2”, and stock, “Ford” Gt500, 2 3/4” front exhaust clamps. The front clamps mate the headers to the cat back. Those are the only additional parts I ordered.
Nice. I want to go All 3” front the collector out. And yes a resonator I believe with the LT’s will be a necessity.

Very nice! Seems to have a slight gt350 sound between the blips.

I am curious how the Roush axle backs would sound. Had a set on my 15 50th anniv. and love the deep sound they made too.

Here’s a video. kooks, Borla ATAK. Note the Borla ATAK is for the GT500, not the GT.
nice, didn’t seem too loud what exhaust setting? What did it do on the dyno did you also tune the car?
