How much power are you making and how many miles has it been making that. Curious to see if its possible to make 700-800 hp and still have everything last for 75k miles or so or if that's totally unrealistic. Also wondering if the 15-17 years with the 6r80 would be more reliable than the 18-23 years with the 10r80. I wouldnt be going to the track just the ocational pull here and there

You can do that if you put 15k a year of easy miles on the car. Highway commute etc.

If you race it every Friday night you might wear the trans out. If you get a bad tank of gas or have something like an injector failure it could pop at any time. Also your factory cats will be sitting ducks.

cats are for petting anyway not to put in your exhaust. Yea I would probably only do 8-12k miles a year as I have a short drive to work. At most I might do maybe 5-10 pulls from a roll a week need to get a dose of g forces every now and then to recharge.

Current mileage: 81k
Original Motor.
Boosted for 65k of the 81k miles.
I average 10k miles a year.

Always warm up the car to 130 F before moving. 190 F before WOT. Oil level checks weekly. Preventative maintenance is key.

Good luck.

The one and only dyno I performed was while tuning for the Whipple. I put down 803 whp on 93.

Thats definetly encouraging. I didn't think they could make that much and hold for that long

I don’t redline it very often. Only when a suitable foe encourages a spirited dash, though it’s been awhile since anyone has stepped up to the plate.

Had I played every weekend, who knows if I’d be here posting positive results :-)

Anybody have a centrifugal supercharger or turbo car that's lasted a long time. I imagine a turbo setup would be best as it puts the least strain on everything.

Personally, I would go 2015-2017 with the 6 speed auto amd 3:15 rear.

Based on what I've seen, the 6r80 seems more bulletproof than the 10r80 for higher power levels - less complexity means less things to break.

2018 with a Vortech here. Original engine and trans went 56k before issues. But I was driving it everyday, racing it on the drag strip or road course every month. Made 770 rwhp and It saw 7500rpm every day. Lol
I lost the og engine when a fuel pump failed at 7700rpm in 4th gear. Hurt a piston.
Built a new engine and trans and now its at 904rwhp and 78k miles.

Sounds like you are getting maximum value out of that car! That's the way to go, and is my approach with my f150.

Been having fun. Next step is a 10r from Manny at Midnight Performance with all the Suncoast goodies. Eventually I will build a stroker and a bigger Vortech.
I know turbos are quicker, but I like the sound of a Centri.
