Given the bbq tick, typewriter tap and faulty timing chain tensioners (chirp) on many cars, how reliable is the latest incarnation of the 5lt coyote engine likely to be down the track.
I would have thought that a company the size of Ford would have had these issues sorted prior to production.

They make like 300-400k of these engines every year for their F150 plus Mustang line-up. They are generally very reliable.

It's hard to say with 100% certainty how reliable a vehicle is that's this new. Judging on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Coyote motors, yes it will be reliable... But... you're throwing in direct injection and plasma transfer wire arc cylinder liners. Two pretty big changes. From what I've seen, the Gen 3 is just as reliable as the Gen 2 and the Gen 1. The only potential downside with the Gen 3 is more complexity. Complexity doesn't mean it's less reliable, but it does mean when a problem arises, it will most likely be harder to troubleshoot and more expensive.

+1 There are no systematic issues that would have prevented me from buying my GT/CS. Go for it.

Our 1000+ rwhp 2018 Whipple car has been very reliable to us as a dedicated track car. We have made tons of passes on this car without any hiccups or issues. It is a stock motor with only Boundary OPG/CS .. Here is a video of its most recent track outing running a 8.64 with a 1.27 60'

In my opinion i would not be worried about the reliability of the 18+ cars compared to other years

Just horrible! The 18’s plus all blow their engines by 10k miles. Please go buy a electric car OP.

If your looking to buy a GT look for a 19 or newer and if used go for a Certified pre owned. I was in a similar situation last month but got lucky to find a 19 certified with only 435 miles. Still a new car but just extra coverage. I'm hoping to never use the warranty but it's there for peice of mind. Also break in the motor accordingly and I'd suggest oil change every 5k miles. But I'd say realible as far as engine goes

You have more chances of not being able to update sync because of their crappy system then anything else.
