I have a 2017 GT with an old VMP Gen 2 TVS. I’ve had the supercharger for 3 years now and it’s been great, but since my car is basically stock appearing and has no whine, I’d like to add a boost gauge so I can see what it makes at least lol. I’ve never had aftermarket gauges before though, so I’m not sure what will be reliable and have several functions.

The shop who installed the VMP only recommended an Ngauge, but since those were discontinued with no support anymore, I didn’t want to invest in the going price of a used one that couldn’t be repaired if it has a problem. Are there options out there like the Ngauge that plug into the OBDII port, but also have a boost line attachment? Ideally I’d like to be able to monitor multiple things that way if it’s possible, without a lot of wiring.

From what I’ve read, there is a 1/8 fitting on the right hand side of the TVS that all I need is a compression fitting to screw the boost line into. Is that all I’ll need to make this work? Thank you

I use a Prosport Digital Premium EVO, I had an Autometer gauge before which worked fine but I like the digital gauge better, mostly for the peak boost recall button. I have not had any issues with it, works great. Other features are that you can dim it, change colors if you want, it has a warning feature and you can easily daisy chain off of it if you decide to add more gauges.

Buy one of those little gauge pod adapters that goes in your HVAC vent

Then get any 2-1/16" boost gauge from AutoMeter. I like the 4301 but whatever color you like. It's pretty simple to connect, basically T into anything on your blower or use a capped off port if you have one.

Do not buy a Glowshift or other shitty Chinese gauge.

How about the Banks iDash? Can read a lot more than boost and simply plugs into your OBD-II port.

That looks interesting. How do this and the others posted that read boost pressure through the OBDII port without a hose ran to the supercharger work? Seems like an easier route, but are they just as accurate?

The car will have a MAP sensor that reads manifold pressure for the car’s ECM, so the Banks takes that off the cars canbus network. MAP - BARO = BOOST :)

Does the vmp tvs use a map sensor like the roush kit does?

Analog > digital
Given that your engine computers fuel the car using digital inputs and outputs, all OEMs disagree with your assessment. :)

I'm talking about how the human brain reads numbers. It's faster to recognize analog gauges. Much better to see an orange needle on a gauge than some tiny number packed on a tiny screen with 8 other numbers

There's a reason your speedo and tach still have a sweeping dial. Imagine how much of a PITA reading your RPM would be if it was only digits and no visual indicator (that's why the premium dash has that colored bar that grows)

Totally understand where you’re coming from, good point. That said, I can tell you from having a reasonably quick car (9.10 @ 153) you’re NOT watching that gauge when driving under boost lol…. So let the thing log it for you, then review it after the fact. A mechanical gauge is useless in comparison (even though you’re right about it being more readable).

Does that not read vacuum? Only positive pressure?
I’m sure it can read vacuum too but I purposely selected boost since vacuum numbers aren’t super helpful in a boosted application.
