These stories have convinced me more and more that my original decision to spend hours not minutes inspecting my delivered cars is correct. And that I will wait for the dealership to fix any problems I find before I pay for the convertible. I want to drive my car, not fight with Ford to fix problems that should have been fixed at Flat Rock.
I am planning a full (lengthy) detailed inspection on my DIB V6 convertible before signing and paying for it. I plan to ask for an extended test drive as well to check for rattles, wind noise, 50-70 MPH drive shaft vibration, etc. I will probably bring a print out (in separate sections), of the posts here on the various issues that others have reported. That way if I find issue 'A', I can hand them that section detailing that it is has been a reported issue and it's details. My hope would be that it would at least make it harder for them to wave the issue aside as easily, maybe feigning ignorance (or at least require them to create a different 'story') and I'd get a better sense of their level of helpfulness or obfuscation before 'I own' any problems!

I have been keeping a rough list of issues, but I think it would actually be very helpful if we had a thread specifically just to document known issues. Also noting which issues have been addressed and fixed and those who have been through the ringer and been told issues are normal.

I am going to compose this thread right now. It will be up soon.

Ridiculous! Basically, warranty means nothing when someone decides it's normal? WTF?

When I was at a gas station to run my car through a no touch wash and I went inside to pay a white 2015 GT Premium parked next to me. The car had no panel alignment issues at all, the trunk didn't look like it was missing a chunk in the corner, the black appliqué lined up perfectly, rear glass was perfect. If I see him again I am snapping pictures to show the dealership that crooked panels are NOT normal!

IMO Ford should replace the lid under warranty! I never ever saw a new car with so a bad trunk lid in my life! It pulls more attention to the lid because the lid is crooked installed too.

Not to mention that the actual form of the lid doesn't fit the quarter panel!

:barf:

I have no idea what got wrong, but if I remember it right from the Flat Rock video, the parts are made close to the plant. There should be no problem to go over there and check the machine out who actually makes the lids. I will ask my dealer to replace the lid with a new correct one.

Actually we should send all this bad pictures to FORD or a Car Magazine to make it public! :ninja:

This is public, post the link, for those of you who can't get issues resolved, what have you got to loose ?

I got a few calls yesterday from Ford, not the dealer. However, the last call I got yesterday was from the dealer, that the top was fixed, they installed the "CLIP" with the assistance of the ford engineer on the phone, while he asked questions as to fit, movement and such.

They were only waiting for my scratched glove box door.

Then, Ford called me today. every time they call I am in the middle of something else and can't give it my full attention. Either way, today he tells me that the top is being worked on, that engineering has more QC to go through and its in progress. I told him it was funny that the dealer called AFTER he called and said top was fixed and waiting on glove box door. I heard him get pissed. He said oh really, I will call you back. that was 9:28 this morning, the dealer called at 2:51 and said still being fixed. Mis-Information, lies, half truths, call them what you will, three weeks without my car, a total of half its life in the shop. I can't wait to see how much mileage they put on it. today its 2 months and one day old, delivered January 9th, dropped it off at ford with 438 miles on it. If they ever fix this car, when I go back, the inspection will be done with a drive and I will go over this car like a judge in a concours d'elegance. If they rush me, i'll leave it there. I am going to run my hand inside the rear wheel well looking for rubber form the tires to see if she had been abused. I am in no way going to make this easy for them. They have tried my patience and I have started to doubt them, thats a bigger problem.

By the way, the manufacturer calls the part a grommet, the dealer a clip. It may be me being difficult, but they are different parts in my book and not interchangeable.

Again, its the trust I am loosing.

Yesterday, "The car will be ready tomorrow sir"
Today, "Still working on it sir"

Am I wrong here?

The dealer you bought it should look after your car - in a normal life. I did send this week an email to the body shop to make sure that everything is taken care of with the case number. In no time the manager responded that everything is on his list too and a free loaner car for 1 week would be waiting for me.

That's how it should be done.

Any authorized Ford dealer in the US should look after your car. But I guess I somewhat understand what you mean. The treatment and attention you get should be consistent across the board.

I do understand too what you are saying. But IMO the dealer we get our cars from should deal with it. There are issues on our cars they should have taken care of at the Flat Rock QC or at least at the dealers PDI. I did wrote this morning to FORD Canada customer service if they could look if I can get my trunk lid replaced. Will see what they write back. My dealer takes care with all the other issues first week in April when my car gets in the body shop to fix my quarter panel.

You guys are making me nervous. I haven't had time to bring the car so they can check the trunk lid and hood and I feel like they're going to tell me to screw off!

I am wondering what FORD is doing for us who have this "bend" trunk lid. Mine is missing a chunk on the right edge as you can see on the photo I posted already (like the lid that Ponygrrrl has). Are we getting the lids replaced under warranty or is the local bodyshop paid to fix that with a big hammer and some welding?

@Jeff what do you think? (I know you sit in the USA and I have to PM CanServ.)

PM "FordService" if you need any extra help.

Although it is the same type of issue, each situation has to be diagnosed individually. What makes one fall within criteria as opposed to another is outside of my purview. However, as dealers are independently owned, there's always the option of getting a second opinion.

PM Jeff if you have trouble to get things fixed.

Send me a PM with some details, Bay1Stang. I'll see how I can best assist when you're ready to take it in. :)

Issues

I haven't had any issues with my local dealer fixing my car. They let me pick the body shop after initially telling me no. Also ford gave me a car rental while my car is being fixed. I turned my car in for two issues and the body shop found 2 more that I had not noticed, but everything is being corrected.

Reading how some of you have gotten your car's repaired and mine is not getting repaired makes me think some cars are so bad they can't be fixed.

Got the call from the dealership, Once again, Gossamer is ready for pickup. They were going to clean and detail her and give me a call, should be any minute now.

I will bring my fine toothed comb to go over her before I leave.

Wish me luck, this is the third delivery!
