Body panel alignment issues

If the body shop has HETPE3B's car, I would say that is great. Just give them a chance to fix it. to me, i would rather them take as much time as they need.

It is a strategic process. If the fenders move, now the front bumper might not line up. If the fenders move, now the doors might not line up.

That is a long tedious process. This is why they have not called back yet. If they are messing with the trunk lid, then this is yet another process that might take some time to massage or get right.

Lining up all the body panels is not a normal easy task and I am sure it takes two people at the same time to do this.

My drivers side door is slightly low and the rear bumper doesn't line up evenly with the quarter panels and the trunk lid doesn't sit flush with the rear quarter panel. So I have the same issue as probably over 50% of the Mustangs produced from the pictures and in person visits to dealerships. Anybody try to adjust the gaps on their own?. I know it's BS we have to deal with this to begin with but almost not worth trying to fight ford on the repairs and the whole timeline, let alone any potential scratches from the repair shop. Any luck adjusting the panels on your own??

I'm just wait on my rear glass, the dealer said the glass was paid for so they are expecting it soon but dont know when. I almost set up a tint appointment but I realized that would be bad because I dont have the new glass on my car yet. They ordered it 8 days ago so hopefully i'll be getting it soon, the dealership is leaving it in my hands to check in. Just looking forward to being finished with all this.

My driver door is messed up also, but the dealer did say they will have the body shop address it when my glass comes in

5starr0: are you getting the rear window replaced due to how one side may be sitting lower on the driver side than on the passenger side ? (just curious why you are getting a new rear window)

Yes the window slopes so it sits lower on the driver side. They said it was easier to put a new window on than try and fix the one i had

Your old rear glass won't be reusable; the bottom weatherstripping cannot be removed and reattached properly.

My new rear glass was ordered Tuesday and arrived Friday. It comes directly from the manufacturer and not Ford in MI.

Well i wouldnt want them to re-use the glass, prob some bs story the guy was telling me. He said they couldnt re-use the same glass because it cracks easy.

8 days in, hopefully i get this soon, you got yours a hell of a lot quicker than mine.

I actually was even more pleased when the dealer said a new one would be used. Could not care less about the reasons not to do it. Also makes sense on the integrity of the glass not being the same.

I hope you guys have more luck then I had with the new trunk lid my dealer ordered. They couldn't use it at all because it looked worst than the one on my car. Actually I have no idea if they reused my rear window. Remember they did cut out all 3 windows. ..... :shrug:

Isn't there some level of adjustment with the whole bracket system?

If you talk about the rear windows, I have no idea. The trunk lid? My trunk lid was so "crooked" that the body shop guy had to grind off edges and welded straight once including more grinding. And we talk about a brand new car.

Yeah I meant the trunk, but wow... Lol. Not funny but just ridiculous how they could produce something so far from reasonably acceptable.

Ok, just got the car back.
They realigned the front fenders so the gap on both sides of the hood is more or less even. They somewhat fixed the passenger's door so it doesn't touch the front fender, they put a new appliqué on the trunk so it's almost flush with the lights, they didn't fix misalignment between rear fender and bumper on the driver's side. They did scratch the paint around fender bolts and partially touch up some of the bolts/nuts. On some of them they didn't bother to touch up.

Now, for some reason parking aid lines disappeared from the rearview camera. I did read the manual, and it says that after the battery disconnection they may disappear and will appear after the car will go faster than 12mls/hr. I did drive probably 30 miles today after I picked up the car but the lines did never came back. Does anybody knows what the issue could be?

Note: Upon a battery disconnect, the active
guidelines may not be functional until your
vehicle has been driven a short distance and
exceeds a speed of 12 mph (20 km/h).

By the way - I don't even have an option in the menu about active guidelines. I have only option for the camera delay.

Zoom button on the screen beeps when pressed but doing nothing. I did try to reset to the factory settings. Didn't help.

So is Ford Quality Control doing their jobs these days?

Just curious if any new(recently purchased) S550 owner have noticed any misaligned body panels these days?

I know this was pretty substantial issue when the new Mustangs came out. Curious to see if FORD payed attention and stepped up their game.
