I'm wondering if this is a trend with these manual transmissions, I am a member of an s550 group out of Atlanta with 150 members and we have 3 boosted vehicles that have lost 3rd gear.
You might say well that's not bad that's less than 1% but I know Ford to be a manufacturer that follows the Six Sigma philosophy which would give an expectation of only 3.4 defects per million units produced.

There was one here in Fla that I know of as well; power shifting into 3rd at the track with a ProCharger and lost 3rd....what were the circumstance of the three in GA?

I have noticed that car culture is very different in the US where modding seems normal, but I feel like boosting your HP by 200-300 that stock components will break. Just figuring out why people ask questions about stuff breaking when you void warranty (I would presume) and push the power far beyond stock with stock components.

I understand why you would want more power though, it seems even minivans have 400 HP in the US :)

In any case if you factor in the % of people boosting their car and also breaking their 3rd gear you prolly end up with 3.4 defects per million anyway.

Blowing out 3rd gear is sort of a generic description of the failure. Some actually rip the teeth off the 3rd gear and main shaft. Other just bust up the fork pads and lose the ability to shift into 3rd or 4th gear.
