3,4xx miles and its a Torsen (if it matters). I know Ford would say no need. But if there could be significant crud in there from manufacturing/break-in that isn't just going to recreate itself after a change, might as well get it out sooner than later.

I'm guessing the shelf life for unopened diff fluid is substantial, so I'll just order the combo with 75W140 now even if you think no point in doing the diff now. I appreciate the offer to combine a later order for the diff to retroactively make it a combo but no need to complicate things.

Thanks for all the help. I'm off to order. Still interested in if YOU would change the diff now if it was your car or put the fluid on the shelf and wait awhile.
This is after the second batch of Ford Fluid was in there for about 5K miles. I changed it to BG for the third fill. Dealer changed it the first time and noted heavy accumulation on the magnets. That was at 2-3K miles. Mine hasn't blown up yet. The part that will fail on these is going to be the pinion bearing on a 3.73 car. Getting closer to the release of our cooler kit but not there yet.

You quoted me before I had a chance to change my post from "off to order" to "did order".

Thanks again for everything. I'll change the diff now just in case even though I'm not tracking this car.

Just ordered from Optimum! Anything that will smooth out the MT82 a little, I'm on board for!
Update: The installation of the MGW race spec was a huge improvement to the MT82, BUT, adding the BG fluid made it buttery smooth. I honestly didn't think fluid would make a feel'able difference, but WOW, it did. Very impressive stuff!

Kit from Optimum with instructions made it super simple. Pump and pre marked cup with how much should be left over made install a breeze. Thanks BG for an unreal product and Optimum for packaging it up to make our lives easier!:clap2:

I just changed my oil today and felt the same way. No way can a simple oil change make a dramatic difference to the shifting.

Was I ever shocked when the tranny was no longer clunky at times. It shifts extremely smooth now as it should. Ford should be speccing this oil for the car from the factory.

Thank you BG!!!

I changed mine last weekend (both - trans and diff), had RP before. Improvement is noticeable (over RP - who had noticeable improvement over FP).

Also wanted to add that that shipment was immediate (I think I ordered Saturday and had the package at my door in OH on Monday) and whole set is nicely put together with clear instructions.

I will definitely come back to but it again for the next change.

Did this swap yesterday I Got 3 quartz through a local BD distributor and had it put by one of the mechanics in my shop(I am in sales at a Lexus dealership) Took only a few minutes for the task to be finished and it does feel smoother .

I also just received the Boomba short shift kit and will be installing this weekend myself can't wait for this one to be done as well. The stock shifter in this car while OK is just a bit rubbery for my taste I hope this Boomba is what I am expecting from it .

I never know sometimes with these Mods if there is a placebo effect but this one does seem to worth the minimal investment .

If your thinking about the BG swap do it!

MGW would get rid of that "rubbery" in a hurry...combined with these fluids it's pretty damn nice

Where can I put jack stands in the front after jacking up on the pinch weld? Can I put the stand where the red arrow is on the pic below? I think that is wider than the head of the jack stand so don't know if its safe from slipping off If I can't put it there, where?

Rear is easy because the car is so stiff and front heavy that when you jack at the front pinch weld jacking point, the whole side of the car comes up and you can put a jack stand under the rear pinch weld jacking point.

Yes but as close to the cradle as possible. Solid place for the stands.

I let the trans and diff drain overnight so car was cool for more of the job. Big advantage in over 100 degree temps + a hot car.

On the diff, I used all the fluid the pump could reach to get to the mark on the bent zip tie. I have the higher viscosity which came in two 32 oz bottles while the instructions were for a single 70 oz bottle. Would like confirmation that's normal for the 2 bottle kit to use all the fluid the pump can get.

On the trans, I had a slight dribble from the filler when I removed it. Maybe just the slant in the garage floor making the filler a little lower. Anyway, since that meant I couldn't put more in than I took out, I just kept pumping the fluid in until it started seeping out the filler. That didn't happen until AFTER the pump started sucking air and I had to tilt it to keep going. I didn't think there could possibly be 7 ozs left in the bottle, and there wasn't. But the cup filled to about 1/2 inch below the yellow tape; so pretty close. I assume I'm okay even if there is a bit more than BG recommends since I didn't put any more in than I took out.

Optimum Performance deserves some praise for making these kits easy to use with great instructions and even great packaging for shipping.

Thanks!

p.s. an 8mm nut driver on the allen wrench for the trans filler works as well or better than a socket and ratchet extension. The driver may be shorter but the handle is designed for gripping better than an extension.

Same amount of fluid, and as long as you see it on the stick you are good. The pumps come with two different length pickup tubes, or you can just drain one bottle into the other

Reading some stuff on page 15 and 16.it seems use 3.73 torsen guys should run the 140 over the 90. I only street my car right now. Dont have time to track it with deployments. What is your recommendation for the diff fluid?

It's a personal choice but Ford uses 75W85 for efficiency.
