It is no mystery that many of us have tried many different fluids for a cheap mod to improve the function of the not so great MT82. Previously I had tried BG Syncro Shift II and I was impressed. I have been using Ceratec in my engine and have been thrilled with the results getting rid of the "tic" and it always was in the back of my mind that the Ceratec bottle said its good for manual transmissions. Well I finally poured it in...aaaaannnnnd at first wasn't happy with it. But a month of driving later and its shifting better than EVER. It ALMOST feels like a different transmission. I am very satisfied and recommend it. Another Mustang owner had actually recommended it to me at a car show and he uses is in all his manual transmission cars.

That BG stuff for the MT-82 is amazing, I did that along with a mgw short shifter and weighted shift knob. It completely changed the feel of the transmission. Highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't done it.

How much did you put in?
I did it a few months ago and don't remember exactly. I did some math based on the bottle stating one bottle (300 ml) is sufficient for 3–5 Liters . It came out to somewhere a little less than half a bottle of Ceratec if I remember correctly.

I have the 2nd gear grind and it is driving me nuts!! I've installed the MGW a year ago and the issue still persists! Last month decided to change the fluids with the motul gear oil 75w140 and will see the results afterwards! I'm gonna give it sometime to cure then if not I will try the ceratic as well!

Tell me you didn't put 75W140 gear oil in your transmission?

You should be running either BG SynchroMeshII or Motul DCTF fluid, which are around a 75W80 viscosity. 75W140 is going to be much too thick and likely cause you many more issues.

DCT and manual transmission oils have SAE gear oil viscosities typically in the range of 75W-80 to 75W-90. This corresponds to SAE engine oil viscosities of approximately 5W-30 to 10W-40. 75W-140 gear oil is more like 5W-60+ engine oil. Just to offer a familiar reference point.

I use ceratec for the engine, but would never put it in my transmission. Syncros work solely based on friction, anything that can alter those parameters are prone to causing more issues than benefits long term.

I rather spend the money on a MGW shifter.

Appreciate your reply everyone,
My issue didn't start with my MGW shifter when I've had it installed couple of years ago. However I was facing some difficulties shifting between 1st and 2nd gear and more specifically in reverse as it was changed to push type so I thought since I live in very hot climate I would try thicker oil and if it didn't help much then I would just dump it out and put it into my rear differential. I can see the change is mandatory whenever you are boosted like in my case when I went Odin I had to level up to 5w50 to maintain the best operating parameters. So I thought why not give it a try with 75w140 in my mt82.
Your input is highly appreciated in advance,

Did the same with the engine and the type writing tick went away.
