Also to do a BSM reset I wouldn’t need forscan
correct? It’s just turn car on accessory mode, high beam 5 times and break 3 times and wait for the battery light to flash. Or am i missing anything

Procedure must be carried out within 10 seconds:
  1. Switch ignition on (engine off)
  2. Pull and release high beam 5 times.
  3. Press and release brake pedal 3 times.
  4. If successful the battery light will flash 3 times within the next 15 seconds
  5. BMS reset completed.
I've used the above process before, which worked as expected.

Skye is still on the stock battery, year four. The battery is rated at 590 CCA. The existing battery's capacity is meeting my needs. If I had aftermarket electronics or was driving the car throughout Winter, I'd consider something with a bit more CCA. I'd like to have some additional reserve. I do use a battery maintainer as the car is not my DD.

I also have experience with DieHard Gold and Duralast Gold. Three separate batteries, all of which lasted five+ years each. All of which were used to start vehicles several times when it was - 0 F / -17C. These batteries were rated at 710 CCAs.

I replace vehicle batteries every five years.

If the car is not your DD, I'd consider a battery tender, which will condition the unit while keeping it charged when not in use.

Edit,

Six years on one battery. That's actually quite good. Consider using the same brand again.

If you have a Deka battery terminal where you live buy a Deka, the best batteries hands down, Deka makes batteries for many major brands as well, Autozone Duralast is a Deka made battery, John Deere batteries are made by Deka.

As for resetting the BSM if you have an Autel Scanner it will do it or you can search YouTube and there are some videos that walk you though how to do it in the vehicle itself. I reset mine when I replaced the battery with a Duralast from Autozone using my Autel scanner it was quick and easy.

Batteries at Costco are quite reasonably priced if you are a member. I can't speak to their longevity yet as I've had mine less than a year.
For the BMS reset. I used my scan tool. But I have read that simply shutting and locking the car and leaving it untouched for 8 hours will allow the car to determine the battery condition.

Yes sir 6 years with the ford oem battery. I am considering buying the boss 302 alternator as well. Have a deal on it for $100. Thank again the car is only at 27k miles and I will pick up the smart battery from ford since I usually drive the car 6 times a month if i’m lucky. No free time from work to enjoy the car lol

don t have it here with me. Mid level battery , NAPA brand, proper specs. I only had 20K but and battery was working but a 6 years old battery is on borrowed time.

I did a quick online search and it looks like prices have gone up signficantly in a few months??

my old post show I paid about $200. fyi

I recently swapped the one in my truck; it was $250. This for Duralast Gold, 710 CCA.

Attaching one document and one photo.

The document is battery case sizes. A battery's group number will be directly related to case size.

In the photo of a Mach 1 battery, see the PN#. In it is "96R" the case size, followed by CCA (590).

I always buy the $105 Walmart batteries. Haven’t had one fail early yet, and they are a fraction of the price of others.

Costco interstate comes out to $125ish depending on local tax. Mine lasted just under 5 years for a car that doesn’t get but 2500 miles a year on it. OE Motorcraft lasted almost the same.

One thing about the BMS reset, the battery light might not be as bright as you’d expect. At least on my 2016 it was in the digital center stack and not on the gauge like I’m used to so I missed it the first time thinking I did something wrong. Not sure how the face lift cluster looks.

basically did the reset, no drive. Hopefully get a battery that has not been on the self for 6 months, LOL... they do have a date on them FYI.

I feel like I should be ashamed of myself for getting a sam’s club membership instead of costco lol. Will need to get that membership especially for the gas prices but I have the digital dash for the 2020 as well so hopefully I catch it. I was planning on doing a pov recording just to rewatch it 🤣. But I will definitely put a battery tender this time around
