Battery Type - 2023 Mach 1

My car has the BXT-96R-590 in it. I purchased a battery tender. What type of battery is this... AGM? I can't find a spec for it anywhere. Thank You

It’s not. Just a regular lead/acid battery

You can replace it with an AGM battery.

96R is the size. Costco carries the AGM the H5(47) and 96R are almost identical in physical size and fit well. I replaced my stock battery with this Interstate AGM.

Good Evening. I picked up an Interstate 47/H5 from Amazon. I knew it was taller than the 96R, but was taken by the difference. It's an inch taller.

I got it in and the battery cover is bowed up. I could get the little cover fasteners secured - no issues there. I did note the hood is impeded slightly by the taller height of the battery and cover. It closes, but requires an extra light push to close. So, the tallness has me bit concerned. But there is play on the battery cover and the foam cushioned hood liner that I think its not a big deal.

Lastly, I did the batter BMS reset per my owner's manual and it worked as described.

My Costco Interstate battery doesn't have the MTX marking I see on your Interstate battery. It is a tight fit, but my battery cover is not bowed.

ohhh. i don't blame him after my last interstate wet battery i bought off costco made quite a mess after a measly 6 months.

Ford discontinued the 96r AGM battery. That’s what I was told.

Odyssey makes the 96R in an AGM, I have it.
