This is a new price, the X-plan website reflects the new increase as well. Not sure why, maybe the new UAW union contracts?

Ford adjusts pricing several times per year on all models. They do it to stay competitive, adjust for inflation, cover their costs, etc. Most of the time, pricing goes up, but sometimes it stays the same and even goes down depending on competitive pressures.

Anyone who special ordered a car before the price change gets price protection. Ford will reimburse the dealership the difference, so the dealer makes just as much money as they originally agreed upon and the customer gets the originally quoted price.

What happened to the 'Special, Friends & Neighbors' pricing
It was supposed to run until Jan 4th, but was such a dismal failure nationwide that Ford dropped it at the beginning of December. The Friends & Neighbors pricing was the X-Plan pricing that is clearly printed on each invoice, but Ford lowered the rebates being offered to customers so it flopped. Many dealers sell for prices below X-Plan regularly (like the dealer I work for), so now that the Friends & Neighbors sale is over and rebates went back up, customers are getting much better deals again.

I think Ford could have planned this price hike better with the new Camaros hitting the lots. You know maybe add more standard features or revised suspension. For me the price difference was a selling point for the Mustang over the Camaro but now they closed the price gap more with nothing to show for.

I can't believe I got my new order in the day before the price hike. Wow I lucked out on that one.

I got to say prices go up all the time, I'm sure Ford's prices and expenses has risen from their vendors. This is a little bigger hike then usual but the car is still well worth it.

Yeah increase the price with nothing new added to show for, doesn't seem smart since the Camaro offers more tech currently. Guess time will tell how this affects sales.

Maybe Ford increased the GT's engine power output to 455 HP and torque to 435 ft pounds of torque and the price increase covers the increased cost. Maybe...

Yea perhaps its to cover the costs for the possible impending update to the '17 mustang? Updated power, 10 speed auto and slightly revised styling to go along with it would make a good case for it. Also i find it weird that as of now Ford has not released a job 2 schedule for MY '16. If in fact their not going to do a job 2 it usually implies that it will be a shortened MY which would possibly mean an updated model coming soon...maybe.

Hmm, that's not cool. The price difference was a nice advantage vs the camaro. Now they both start in $25k.

I think this big price increase is to cover any big 2017 changes. Now they can raise the 2017 price with PP to match the base 1SS say "look we gave you DI with 460 HP and 420 torque for only $300 more" but that's only because they raised 2016 by 1300.
That may be wishful thinking, only time will tell. I just test drove a 2016 camaro 2SS automatic (it's all they had) a few hours ago then went to Ford and tested a 2016 Mustang Premium Performance Pack about an hour later. Going to post a review of both in the vs section and will be honest as hell with no bias as I really like both brands.

Even with the $1300 price hike The camaro is a lot more $ then the Mustang when adding certain options!

This Was a poorly timed price increase for ford. They should have done it in smaller increments.
