I've had smaller coupes with more practical back seats and better organized access to them.

But I still bought a Mustang because I do use rear seats. Otherwise I would consider Miata or Corvette.

I'm 6 ft tall, but can fit in the rear. It would not be very comfortable for a long ride and I'd have to tilt to the center to move away from back glass.

But not everyone is this tall and I can ride Mustang in cases where Miata or Corvette would end up collecting dust in garage.

unless your a midget or a double amputee the back seat is there for insurance reasons only.

The back seat is why I can drive it as much as I can! My 4 year old daughter loves the car almost as much as me! She's disappointed if I don't bring it to pick her up! We can go places as a family in it, we've even done weekend getaways!

If I didn't have the usable back seat I would only be able to drive it once or twice a month. I probably drive it 6 days a week when the weather is nice!

What better way to introduce the next generation of enthusiasts!

I had my grandnephew ride in back and his head was just touching the roof when he'd sit up straight. he's 5'11 tall..

It is *not* a tiny woman shelf. My gf is 5'0" and I would never put her back there. There should be a warning in the manual: "Do not store women in the back seat. No matter how much they want to have sex back there."

The back seats are crucial for transporting our "sons", my Golden Retriever and her Pit Bull mix.

I am kind of surprised they arent illegal due to some regulation on headroom. But below about 5'4 they work I guess, if the driver and passenger seat are moved forward enough. Above 5'5 or so they seem like they are actually dangerous due to the glass hitting your head and there is no head rest in this generation. They can work and be legal in a pinch though I suppose. Ive used backseats for passengers in mustangs 2-3 times that I remember in a total of 8 years of ownership (3 different mustangs). a total of maybe 20 minutes drive time.

Back seats function as a storage area for me. To use them as seats is ridiculous and impractical.

Dog gets to ride in mustang. Dog happy. That's about all I can get back there. 70 lbs german shepherd mix and a 85 pound chow mix.

I'm 6'2" and I keep my seat slid about 3" forward. I can barely fit my hand between my seatback and the rear seat cushion. Only a very small child in a booster seat or infant in a car seat could fit behind me. That's why I installed the GT350R rear seat delete.

Curious as to when/what year the interior dimensions changed. In my '08 I (5'10") could sit in the back (let my dad drive once, mum in the passenger seat) without getting a concussion from the rear window compared to my '19.

I love the back seat. It's a great excuse to not have to drive people around. Like when going to lunch with my coworkers I'm like "I'd totally drive but I don't want you to be uncomfortable in my tiny back seat".

I wouldn't want an actual 2 seater though cause I always put stuff on the back seat.

For the new generation in MY2015 they must've shrunk the interior. My 80 lb dog can just fit thru into the back with the driver seat all the way forward while in my '08 there was plenty of room for him to step in. And the roofline's lower.

Completly and utterly useless, too small for adults, children or really even baby seats. Useless, really even to put things in, since they fly to the other side when the car is taken around a corner quickly.....use a net in the trunk. My dog is 120 lbs and it’s too small for her.
Iirc reading an article that ford put the back seat in for insurance and sales purposes.
Hell Im 6’4” and there is no way I can fold up myself to fit back there, let alone sit comfortably, ain’t happening, my wife at 5’9” can’t use it either. So I’ll be taking the back seat out, fabricating a delete and sourcing a roll bar and audio set up to go back there
