Hey Gang,

Episode 9 is up.

I got a little long winded, but I hope this answers the question about why I am not going to use the GT350/MR front hubs.

Thanks!

Did you get some inspiration from Ken block and the hoonicorn?

Not at all. I have been planning to make an AWD Mustang since the late 90's and got more serious about it in 2007 or so. But, then life got in the way and I finally got the car I am converting in 2019.

I decided to make the AWD Merkur first instead since I could get the front suspension from the European model. I never would have thought it would take 20 years to finally get to it:)

I have actually owned the domain name awdmustang.com for about 15 years:) I have never done anything with it, but may once the car is on the road.

More updates coming soon. I got the transmission back and I am starting on the shifter. But my main focus has been the front spindles and I think I have good design to move forward with.

I got a Bique BX printer. After a rough start, it has been doing great. There was a bit of a learning curve.

The one print took 37 hours and came out pretty nice.

More Progress!!

I am trying to get the car on the wheels in 2wd mode, but with the new transmission, rear driveshaft, tcase, etc in the car. I would like to prove out that part of the build before the season is done in MN. I am making steady progress, but time is running out:)

Pretty awesome work. Subbed.

I dig the Merkur, too. I built a 2.3t Lima for my project, sourced from an '88 Turbo Coupe. Glad to see some old school 2.3 love still around.

I have been pushing hard on the project trying to get it on the wheels before the weather turns. The car won't be AWD, but I want to get the transmission in with the transfer case on and prove out the transmission, shifter, rear driveshaft, crossmember, floor clearance, etc.

I got the reverse lockout done yesterday:

The driveshaft adapter with the trigger wheel for the VSS.

Shifter mount and shift rod need some additional cosmetic work, but everything functions.

Driveshaft, this started out as a Dana/Spicer/Ford Racing driveshaft for a 2007-20012 GT500 that I had shortened about 11in.

Bump in the floor, should clear the seat.

I should get the tranny in this week.

I wonder how many Ford engineers are subbed to your YouTube and are letting you do all the R&D.

I say 2 years after your car is finished Ford will miraculously release an AWD version of the Mustang.
