I should have a new episode out soon. I am trying to nail down the tcase adapter (I am going to remake it with some changes) and the transmission crossmember.

In between, I also measured the ABS sensor pulses per revolution of the stock GT front hubs, the MR front hubs and the Explorer hubs I intended to use. Here is what I got:

GT=50
MR=48
Ranger/Explorer=54

Hmmmm, how do these cares use the ABS signal. Will the car "learn" the different pulse count? I have seen at least one person that converted to MR hubs and didn't have an issue. That was on a 2018, mine is a 2017.

But, I don't think these cars are very touchy to having different size wheels front to back, maybe they learn or adjust? This could through a Monkey wrench in my plans.

You program the tire sizes in the BCM, the car does not learn them. 2017’s can learn final drive changes within a certain range so it may be able to learn the different hubs.

Wow, thanks for all of the great information

I still have a concern if there is a different number of pulses for the front vs the back.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Tim

The question, has anybody put the MR hubs on a 2015-2017 without issue?

Otherwise, it is not out of the question to put the stock GT trigger wheel on the outer CV joint and use the stock GT sensor.

wheel size

This thread suggests that having 275's in the front and 315's in the back works just fine. That is more of a difference then 50 vs 54 pulses per rev.

Ep. 5 is up.

Take a look.

I finally got the bellhousing modified to put the transmission vertical. This was done to help in shifter placement.

Thanks,
Tim

Good stuff.

Looks like a Trak mill, I'd give my left nut to have one in my shop....not to mention a lift.

Yes, it is a converted Prototrak DPM. I upgraded the control to a Centroid Allin1DC with a touch screen, wireless controll, etc. I love it. Perfect for what I work on. Next is task is to get the probing working. I have the parts/software, but I am trying to focus on the Mustang:)

Man, this thread is so awesome. An AWD mustang with 700HP is my dream car. Low 3s 0-60, good in the snow with snow tires, Ford V8 sound. Thanks for doing this, much respect! Engineers with hands on skills are the best!

I made great progress the last couple of weeks. I am excited to say I am moving on to modifying the transmission mainshaft.

The latest video is up, which shows the fabrication of the transfercase adapter in final form.

The plan is to get the transmission ready to be sent out for assembly and then start working on the front spindles.

Yes, I am going to have somebody else assemble the transmission, I am a DIY sort of guy, but I have so much to do that I like the idea of knowing the transmission will be put together correctly.

I have been making pretty good progress. One on my missions is to be able to make my own splined shafts.

The first project was to respline the mainshaft of the TR6060 transmission. We have success!
