Took delivery of H3157 last Thursday and a brand new set of 305/30R19 RE71Rs today. Couldn't find a set of lightweight AS-legal wheels without getting into ridiculously high-priced custom options (seriously, why does nobody seem to make 19x10.5 wheels?), so I'll be mounting the autocross tires to a set of refurbished OEM wheels I bought off eBay.

Congrats! You just dropped 2 seconds off your time.

I think the OEM wheels are perfectly fine for AS. I don't have a problem with them. Lighter wheels aren't going to make a HUGE difference except maybe in braking. After all, this is autocross, not a road course were smaller marginal changes make a bigger difference. Besides, C6 GS's and C5Z's are AS kings so...lol.

C7 GS ran 1.7 secs faster than me but that was with a more experienced driver. Let's see how close I could get this weekend.

Note: at a short local autocross my 1.6 degree front camber and 36psi front 34psi rear resulted in consistent temps across the tires. Will be going to a higher speed course this weekend.

I got my sh1t pushed in last weekend. Oh well. Videos coming. Was definitely not a fun course for heavy cars. A friend in an E92 wrecked me by 3 seconds but he's also a nationals level driver.

Video 1. This was of my co driver. Sorry for the awful sound. I tired a different mic mounting point and it was not smart...

So there's talk of swapping front swaybars. What's the hot setup here? Has anybody just drilled holes in the swaybar to make it adjustable? That was a common mod with the Focus RS because swapping the swaybar was a lot bigger job than it is on the Mustang.

paulson drilled his stock FSB out; i'm sure he'll pipe in at some point (packwood pro this weekend, so maybe not..)

don't think he replaced the stock bushings though; can't recall why (extra rate from bind?) - if you do though, ES has a part (i picked a set up awhile back and they fit fine):

when i was in FS with my S197, the car felt much better (and faster) with higher rate FSB vs. RSB - and i know james likes this setup on his S550 too (after running an RSB for awhile, against my advice, lol).

I figured the FSB would be an improvement, but I've done exactly ten runs on small lots... Not much feedback yet, the balance feels ok but it takes a bit to transition in slaloms and I think the FSB would be a big help there. I don't see how a RSB would be any benefit, lol

Drilling should be worth ~40% stiffer or something like that, just eyeballing it.

BTW, the stock GT350 bar is 34mm OD, so the linked bushings won't work for anybody that's looking to upgrade.

So... How badly classed is the GT350 in AS/SS?

I got stomped at a recent event by a top level national driver, 1.9 seconds off in scratch time... A week after I raw timed him (scratch time vs scratch time, to be fair :p) while running a friend's FoRS at the Oscoda ProSolo. I didn't have a perfect drive, but I only had ~5 tenths to find according to data. Maybe I was massively under-driving, but it seemed to be understeering almost everywhere. Also, first time on this lot in any car ever, so... it was super bumpy and grip was inconsistent, 1.25 G one corner, 1.05 the next.

SoloStorm had some OBD2 wackiness here, but whatever. I ran the car in track mode, nannies off, dampers in sport (to try and tame the rear end a bit... but I was glad I ran sport due to the bumpiness)

For anyone wondering - there is not a Bump Steer Kit that fits our 350s out right now. I bought the Cortex to find that out the hard way.
Well that's a kick to the dick! Were you able to return it?

Should be competitive in AS, what tires you running?
