Correct, his statement made it seem like they were legal in every state. Radar jammers are however illegal everywhere
laser or radar jammers? Laser jammers are not illegal everywhere. from the article:

"The Food and Drug Administration regulates laser and currently there are no federal laws regulating laser-jamming devices in passenger cars. However, the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia as well as the District of Columbia have enacted their own laws prohibiting their use. Because of this, some laser jamming manufacturers have integrated methods to transform a laser-jamming device into a parking-assist sensor after transmitting its jamming code sequence to avoid suspicion."

Correct, I stated above laser jammers are illegal in certain states.

just to play devils advocate a bit..

people who have devices can still be issued a speeding ticket.. there are other ways for cops to tell you are speeding besides a laser/radar. for instance they can pace you, there are white lines in the roadway spaced at a predetermined distance so police officers can estimate speed without the use of a laser/radar, etc..

now, having said that.. if you get a ticket, and you decide to fight it, and the officer cannot provide proof to backup his claims for writing you a ticket, the judge can and may drop the charges.

but none of these devices will prevent the officer from writing a ticket, they dont magically zap the ink out of his pen or something ;)

Yes of course, VASCAR it's called. And what you say is true, but no cop wants to waste his time or anyone else's including the judge. Nothing is fool proof; NC requires corroborating evidence of guilt which is the radar/laser speed detection. I have particular experience with this.

This isn't true; please dont spread disinformation.

First - detectors for radar are quite good.. I've been using for nearly 20 years. I can get hits on Ka highway patrol radar sometimes miles away as he uses it on other folks. its an early warning system. Laser detectors, while less useful, still serve a purpose. My escort has detected laser used on other vehicles around me before. if pointed at you though, it does nothing but let you know you've been hit by it. Sometimes that hit indicator lets you know to stay off the throttle. I've started to pass people and been targeted, which made me reconsider my next actions. My license has been saved numerous times by these countermeasures.

Second -Jammers prevent you being locked on by laser and getting a speed reading. without a speed reading, they cannot ticket you. These aren't illegal. Cops can't write you a ticket for what they "think" you've been doing. This is still America.
This is not disinformation. It's absolutely true in some states. This still being America has got nothing to do with this. On the other hand, actually it does. The law is the law. Good luck with your attitude, it will most certainly catch up with you one day.

Yes, indeed. Not sure where the hate is coming from but OK... Thanks for adding so much value to the conversation.

People who dont like or believe in radar detectors and jammers arent adding anything to the thread by stating their opinion on it. Keep scrolling to a different thread.

If you're in a state where detectors are illegal, there are detectors that can be stealth installed and arent able to be found by radar detector detectors.

If you're in a state where laser jammers are illegal there are ways to use them so that the cop wont notice 99% of the time. And even if they are found, the ticket for a detector or jammer in most states is less than a big speeding ticket.

These 2 things combined with Waze and situational awareness will work 95% of the time. Countermeasures are layers. The more layers of protection you have, the better chance you have at "beating the law". But eventually you will probably get caught. I'll gladly take 1 ticket over 10 though.

Thanks or the info and pics! Yes, I'm on RDF too. I thought there was a better chance of finding something specific to my application here though:)

Could I see some close ups of your install (DM is fine)? What brand did you go with and are they working well for you?
I'll send you a PM!

Haha - one time on a lonely road, way past midnight, I was really cooking it. A van headed the other direction flashed their brights at me and I thought, "You jerk - my lights aren't on bright." :explode: Luckily, in my angst about being unfairly flashed I lifted and coasted for 10 or 15 seconds.

Got a ticket from a TxDPS officer for 85 or so in a 70 just around the next corner......I was much more upset about my misinterpretation of the van's intent than the actual ticket. I won't make that mistake again!

I've deployed various Lidar jamming systems for almost 20 years. They can be a mixed bag if they aren't installed correctly. Many operators of these devices go overboard to stealth out the install and end up compromising the performance of the jammers. The general guide is stealth the car not the install. To that extent I bought a black Mustang so the heads would blend in better but you can still see them fairly prominent. But I've been pulled over for no front plate a few times and no officer has ever mentioned them.

I apologize in advance for the image heavy response but I am an industrial documentation specialist so it's hazard of the job.

The guns I test agains, LTi TruSpeed, ProLaser 3, ProLite, DragonEye, Stalker LZ1 (Stalker LZ1 is obsolete but the pulse rate is the same as the newer RLR.

Extra bits, I also test with both a Kustom Silver Eagle Ka gun on radar and a Stalker dual Ka. This is the typical setup when we're doing range test. Be advised: I do not run this equipment on public roads, we have an associate with a large private property that helps us test range. This is for testing only. If you see a black Mustang shooting Ka radar it's not me.

Just for fun, I do use the Kustom ProLite out at the track to see what the race cars are doing. This is the approach to turn 11 at COTA. The IMSA cars to very well on that section considering it's a hard braking corner.

I believe this is the WeatherTech Ferrari 458 #48 I tagged.

On a closing note, I have installed a few of these systems on friends cars and declined to install a few others. Lidar jammers are "Big Boy" toys and require some education about how operate them in a practical and ethical manner. They are NOT plug and play, any operator should educate themselves on the practical considerations operating any equipment that is an active countermeasure. The repercussions can be serious.

Thanks for all the good info and pictures! I’ll reach out once I get the kit; I have some questions:)
