Let's talk trailers and tow vehicles. I will be needing a new trailer and want a low profile one because the low front splitter. Also thinking about a sprinter van as a tow vehicle/shelter so i can sleep at the track. anyone care to post pictures of their setups?

Man, this would be awesome. I have a daily driver and have thought about getting a truck for this purpose. My daily is just paid off and I just can't swing it. I would love to tow the car up to Tennessee to the Dragon's Tail, to California to drive up the coast. I figure I can just ship it or uhaul it - I see it just like a vacation. Post pics when you get a setup!

I've towed mine with a Silverado 1500 and an open 18 foot car trailer. I needed more truck so I upgraded to a 3500HD diesel. Also upgraded to a 28 foot enclosed trailer but I haven't had the Shelby in it yet. It has worked great for our Lemons car though.

Actually I think this is a great subject as I've been pondering tow setups and what you need to know etc etc.

Not to detail but let's just say my setup was a 2010 - 2013 Silverado 1500 5.3L, 3.42 axle, 4wd, crew cab mid bed. Adequate? They're rated around 9000lbs but I know that rating and real world feel are two completely different things.

I've pulled my Mustang with my 2015 Durango Citadel Hemi on a 2,000 lbs. U-Haul trailer and it did just fine. Little light feeling in the front but some rear helper airbags, which are only like $100, will solve that (and/or a lighter trailer with manageable tongue weight). I'd love to have a trailer, but I really don't have anywhere to keep it cost effectively... :(

This trailer also ripped off my bumper... but I should have put some wood under the front wheels.

I trailered mine 1000 miles when I went and got my mustang. Towed it with a 2015 chevy duramax and have a 24ft enclosed hh gooseneck trailer. Had to buy some ramp extenders because the car sits so low to load the car into the trailer.

Older pic....Have to utilize Race Ramps to load/unload. The R splitter is still very close and sometimes requires raising the trailer via the jack on uneven ground.

My 1500 was adequate to tow the car on an open trailer but just barely. If I had a lot of tools, wheels and stuff in the bed, I really felt the extra weight. The 3500HD doesn't even know the open trailer is back there and barely notices the enclosed one. I would recommend getting "too much" truck as opposed to barely adequate.

I have a 2013 F-150 crew cab 5.5' bed with the 5.0 and 3.55 rear axle and tow my other car on my steel deck 18' open trailer and it does just fine. It depends on how much you're planning to tow the car if it is worth it to buy a bigger truck. I have about 10k miles with a trailer on this truck and have just shy of 100k miles total. Been on multiple trips from OH to Wi and OH to TN with it and haven't had any issues.

Funny - ive been kinda pondering the same thing. Though this is only in the basics idea stage - and I have yet to decide if I want to go tracking (I know...) or get serious on that - but my idea was to get a 2015+ 3.5 Ecoboost Transit Van. Outfit it as a camper, plenty of space in the LWB version...

I usually pull 2 at a time. I use the long Race Ramps designed for the trailer door flip-out. Keep in mind that these cars are very wide. They are also low to the ground and difficult to tie down.

I have been debating this. I was looking at a cayanne deisel when my SUV dies.

I towed a is300 from OHIO to NYC with my trailblazer SS. It did well the brakes felt suspect though.

Where do you guys store trailers?
