I have a '20 Ecoboost 'vert, with the auto trans. The gear selector indicator lights show up in the instrument cluster, but the position (PRNDS) indicators next to the console selector lever are not illuminated. Is this normal? I just noticed this, as I haven't driven the car after dark very often.

I watched several "driving at night" YouTube videos, but never saw if those indicators were lit.

Thanks, guys. Seems an odd place to "de-content", but that's Ford, I guess.

For fun I went to the Ford.ca website and priced what my car would now be. I noted that the spare tire kit is no longer offered as an option. Guess that's more cost saving on their part, as they probably weren't getting enough uptake on it to warrant having the stock.

Seems logical to me.you can see what gear your in by just looking at your display that's in your line if site

Not me. I always look at the shift lever. Different strokes, eh?

I wonder how hard it would be to "retrofit" an 18+ with the illuminated readout in the console. I'd consider it...

My '19 401A isn't illuminated. It also only came with one horn, which was horrible.. i fixed that easily though.

Tried to research the answer to my question on this forum, failed miserably in finding it, so I guess I will ask...
The other day the Off Base Commander noticed the PRNDS next to the auto gear selector doesn't light up on our 2022 GT. She feels it should, and would like that feature. What I do know so far is, that feature was eliminated anywhere between 2018 and 2020, so not lighting up is normal operation for the car. I did point out to her the gear selection indication is located in the middle bottom of the instrument cluster. She didn't seem quite satisfied with that. So, for those of you who have the illuminated panel and are in the know:
1) Do the PRNDS letters, In fact, light up individually with your gear selection, or are all of them on?
2) Is the panel in the non-illuminating cars exactly the same as the illuminating cars, or did Ford redesign the panel so the letters could not be backlit underneath?
3) LED or incandescent bulbs?
4) What does the mechanism under the console look like? Is there some kind of arm with a light on it attached to the gear shifter? Is there just a bracket to hold the light or bank of lights?
5) I assume there's no wiring there either (just like the #$!+@ glove box lamp)?

I'd just go ahead and pop that panel up (found the YouTube video) and spare all you's guy's the questions, but the Off-Base Commander (and co-owner of the car) is afraid I'll dick it up, therefore, no tools will be taken to the inside of the car at this time.
As always, thanks in advance!!!
