Hi, so I have a 2017 Mustang gt (6r80) , And my differential blew due to hitting a boulder and after I got my car towed an my diff fixed, my car gets stuck in reverse now and will not find true park. I can get it to go through park, reverse, neutral, drive and to sport but it will get stuck going back down to park and will not get unstuck until I go under the car and manually move it with my hands/unhook the shifter cable which it does with ease then (sometimes).
(First picture is what the tow truck driver hit to put get it on the trailer)
(second pic is under the car)

Does it feel squishy when you try to push it into park?

I don't know how the shifter linkage is supposed to run or be hooked up but my initial thought was something got crossed up, run or hooked up wrong.
That or if there was some adjustment that was not done right.
But again that was just a generalized thought, I don't know specifics on these shifters.

I've got a 10R80, so my suggestion here needs to be vetted. On my 10R80, sort of where your circle is, there's a plastic slider. The slider is actuated by a small solenoid and it locks/unlocks the shifter when you press the brake pedal. It prevents you from taking it out of park without having your foot on the brake. The little plastic slider on mine broke and interfered with moving the shift lever out of/ into park. My solution was to remove it entirely - now it will come out of park even when I don't have my foot on the brake, and that's just fine with me. You may want to look in there closely to see if something similar has happened.
