I recently picked up a Mach 1 with the 10 speed auto- currently have about 400 miles on the car. I absolutely love the car, but have some questions in regards to the 10 speed‘s behaviour. THe car relatively shifts smooth, and when accelerating in the various modes is quick and swift. In sport and Track it is naturally a bit harder and faster. I previously had a 2016 with the 6 speed ZF auto transmission, and when in sport or track had a really nice aggressive downshift and exhaust/engine tone when applying the brakes. I don’t seem to have the same with the new car. I was watching several YT vids and hear folks with some nice downshifts when explaining the 10 speed behaviour. I understand folks keep saying the car needs to learn my driving, but wouldn’t that be a very basic out of the box experience it should deliver? Anyone else experience this? Should i attempt to reset the transmission with Forscan?

Has anyone used Forscan lite with iOS - after reading it seems it has limitations. Is this a function the mobile version would support?

The 10R80 won't learn with a few short blasts here and there. If the car is brand new, it's going to take at least a good 500mi with the adaptive learning.

This means if you're driving the same route every day for a week (like say daily driving to work) it will learn the driving style (speed, rpm, stops/gos etc).

If you're driving different every single day instead of a preplanned route it takes it a bit longer to "adapt".

If you have not, here is the 10R80 FAQ thread with a TON of links and attached pdfs regarding the characteristics of the 10R80 and how it functions (Post 1, Page 1 has it all just scroll into it and look for what you're seeking):
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...tions-to-harsh-or-no-shift-conditions.135463/

Also to note:
- The 10R80 doesn't shift consecutively through the gears as a typical old school trans would - it is not a "1,2,3", so be sure to read up on how it shifts.

- Trans Modes are Separate from Drive Modes, so again be sure to read up on that as well.

I just bought a 23 GT, same transmission as yours. Went through a rough patch with shifting but its 100% good now! Be sure to read that thread Cobra Jet posted, towards the end of it you'll find several people who went through rough shifting that was resolved by simply driving.

A few notes though,
  • Have a dealer check your fluid level and ask for a picture or to be there while they do it. The trans is super reactive to low fluid.
  • Drive AT LEAST 1500 miles before you can expect the trans to feel "perfect".
  • Understand how the trans works and learn what is to be expected and what's not normal. There are some odd quirks that are normal about this trans.
Otherwise, go enjoy your new Mustang and drive the heck out of it. You won't hurt it :)

So the issue I am specifically noticing is that there are literally no aggressive downshifts in most situations. The car will go into lower gears as i break, but none that I would consider where the car is showing a sporty engine And exhaust note. It is just very dull.

So I will note that I have not driven my Mach a TON in many modes outside of drag mode once I found it to be the smoothest shifting experience out of any of the modes UNLESS you are in it hard which I wouldn't even call it a harsh shift at all, but more of a fun rubber band snapping feeling on upshifts.

Anyway back to the main thing, I have driven in track mode a few times and as far as the higher revving downshifts without using the paddles I have noticed it tends to only do it when I'm braking a little more aggressively. Otherwise it doesn't tend to downshift at to high of an rpm band. I may chalk that up right now to the fact I haven't hardly driven in that mode, however, I'm not 100% sure either of each mode has an independent learn pattern or not.

FWIW I just honestly keep the car in drag mode 99% of the time when driving because I think I still probably have a trans issue but I want to wait till it gets a little worse before I bring it in as I don't feel that it is low fluid again when I was standing right there when it was worked on last and saw it topped off after being a full quart low last visit. If it is low then something is seriously wrong inside my trans. I also just don't like any of the dealers in my area because they're owned by one group and I used to work for one of them.

My 2019 GT premium shifts up and down much more aggressively to my new Mach 1. The reason, tune. I’m not gonna turn the Mach 1 when it’s only got 500 miles on it. I may do it later but I will do it. All the difference in the world.
