Price is the big unknown at the moment, but what are our best guesses?

The Aussie dollar has been around the US94c for some time now and may well ease back in the next twelve months, but probably not much below US90c. So on exchange alone the prices should be only some 10% higher.

More likely Ford AU will price according to how they see Mustang placed in the local market. So what will the I4 and V8 be competing with?

Being a rear drive coupe, the I4 may invite comparison to the 86 / BRZ ($30K - $37K), but it really is significantly bigger and more powerful. Is it more aligned with the STi / S3 / Golf R ($50K +) segment in terms of performance? But they're hatches with AWD.

Likewise the V8 is hard to peg against a direct competitor. Will Ford see it up against the soon to be discontinued VF SS-V Redline ($52K) or a HSV product like a Clubsport ($61K)?

The possibility of a GT350 with forced induction and big horsepower will give Ford a higher priced product to compete with the $95K HSV GTS. (Does anyone know how well these are selling at this pice?)

There is a lot of comparison on this site to the BMW M4, but plainly they are in a different price segment, here at least.

We've seen media speculation of the I4 Ecoboost starting around $40K and the V8 about $65K which seems a huge price gap.

Any thoughts Ladies and Gentlemen?

I think it will be hard for Ford Australia to sting us too much as it's being built as a right hand vehicle no conversions required, we can see north American prices and the A$ is not too far off for the time being.

So the only add on's are Transport, dollar difference and low volume purchase power by ford Australia compared to a large Us dealer. $65K probably looks about right for GT with PP, the I4 Ecoboost who cares!

Much more than that i will consider cancelling my order and purchasing a restored vehicle from Classic Speed.

I'm thinking around $55K for the Premium GT with PP and/or 50AP. That's if they give us options for those packages at all. I would pay that, but not over 60. What price bracket was the Monaro when Holden made it, because it's the closest thing to what the Mustang will be in our market?

The Red Book says a 2005 VZ CV8 Monaro was $60.5K when new.

Many new car prices have not changed in the past ten years and some have actually gone down.

I bought a new STi in 2004 for $55K and they're $50K today.

I'm thinking around $55 to $60, depending on options. Any more than that and i'll start looking at low kilometer FG GT's.

Turbo 43K drive away.
V8 66K drive away.
Do you have some sources for those figures?

To me the turbo seems a bit low and the V8 very high.

I'm going to go out on a very short limb and propose that you work for said dealership.

I'm thinking it will be at least 42 for ecoboost and 55 for GT.
In the last two weeks CarsGuide have had superficial articles on the Mustang and have stated "priced from about $50K", whereas previously they were saying low $40K for the EB.

I'm hoping it's just sloppy reporting and you're right.

Yeh when I first heard about the prices around 40k I was reeeeeeeaaal skeptical. Pretty sure it'll be more, but maybe not. It's not a ridiculous car though, it really is very similar to our Falcon, (build quality, size, power, etc) but has two doors and looks a heck of a lot sexier, so I don't see prices being much different.
