I like to have the paint protection installed on my car but I worry about the paint not matching with the rest of the car or having orange peels.

Spending $1800 is lots of money but is needed with the shitty thin paint these cars have.

Which brand would you guys recommend? Just a weekend car no track or anything.

My 350 is lighting blue.

I highly highly reccomend searching, this question is asked every single week. It has been explained in great detail on preferred brands, how it looks etc.

I applied Xpel on my 350. I only have partial hood coverage because I drive carefully and don't track it (not a track anywhere in this state I'm aware of). But I have looked at the hood under our garage lights to study the orange peel appearance and focused on the edge of film area. I cannot perceive the slightest difference in orange peel between the factory paint and the covered area. They appear identical under lights which shows up everything. I don't know if the Xpel lays down with the orange peel and mimics it - or if it's just the orange peel appearance under the film - but no difference. So you can put that concern aside.

It's the right thing to do, I had my car done for about 1/4 $ that you are quoting.

For that kind of money how much of the car is being covered?

That’s about he going rate for paint correction and full front end around Chicago. The paint has to atleast have a light polish done for proper prep.

I actually had this conversation with my brother yesterday. My concern is that in say 10-15 years the part that was covered has faded less than the uncovered parts making me need a new paint job just for the car to match right.

It took me a while to decide, and I got mine done last week! I don't regret it. It actually gives me peace of mind. I'm tracking my car, so a little bit easier decision for me, but now that I've seen the result I would have done it either way, especially since I'm keeping this car.

Key is to find the right installer. Your price sounds about right for what I've seen in NE. I paid a little more because I got more covered. I have a separate post for it, below link. I'm waiting for the weather to get better for some post-install pics.

The price you have been quoted is in the ball park. I recommend getting the paint correction done as I have heard the PPF does hide some of the paint imperfections (you don’t want mis-matched looking panels).

I put PPF on the front end of my car (full hood, mirrors, bumper, full fenders, headlights). I had the paint correction done, teflon treated all the paint (teflon is similar to ceramic coating), used Suntek PPF and then had the PPF ceramic coated. The above was recommended by the detailer who did my car.

It is very hard to tell the front end of the car has PPF on it even when you are close up on the car. I have had the car out at a Cars and Coffee and have had people tell me to consider putting PPF on the front of the car and were surprised when I told them it was already on there.

The key to a good out come with the PPF is to use a shop who knows what they are doing.

My installer used XPEL ULTIMATE and he asked me if I wanted to remove the stripes or not. I decided to keep them.

That's about what my quote was too, but I just couldn't justify spending that much money on clear bar on a "Mustang" (flame suit on). So who can do heed, bumper and fenders for under a grand in Socal?

I got Xpel on entire car for somewhere just under $5k. Probably the best money spent on the car after the TireCare (already had 1 CF wheel replacement covered @$3600). Started with front/impact areas only. In my case the PSC2s on the R were throwing up everything....I was constantly hearing sand, debris, etc glancing off the door panels and rear quarter panels. No form of ‘rock blockers’ will prevent this with these tires. I found a couple of small chips in front of the rear tires and that sealed the deal. Went back and got full wrap....peace of mind ever since. If i see a little flap coming up I let my installer know and he fixes it no problem. Same for a couple of persistent air bubbles....the warranty is solid with Xpel.

I also got full car exterior, interior, wheels, lugs & clipers coated in Ceramic Pro 9H gold package for right at $2k. Rain revealed a couple of ‘high’ spots and installer took it in right away to correct. Washing the car is so easy...the hydrophobic qualities are stellar, nothing sticks to the Xpel or the glass.

Looks like you have a talented installer lined up...that and trust in their business posture to get it right is most important IMO. A good installer will do exemplary work with whatever product you choose and then stand behind it.
