Has anyone done the OPG and crank shaft sprocket on a Gen 3 engine?

I’ve watched videos of the process on 15-17. I’ve read and been told the oil pan on 2018+ has to be removed.

Can anyone confirm this? Will I need to lift the engine upward to lower the pan low enough? Any tips on the whole process?

Also, any OPG/sprocket set to get? Avoid?

Thanks.

I recently did it on a 2019. I didn't raise the engine or do anything other than unbolt the pan, which allowed it to drop about 2 inches, and that's plenty enough to clear the pick-up tube. If you're patient, you can even snake a new oil pan gasket into place.

Thanks for that info. I might just try it myself.

Here’s some threads that contain factual OPG info, take time to read them, because not all OPGs are the same and yes there have been reported failures with some aftermarket OPG.

If you’re going to attemp OPG/timing yourself, or get a shop to do it, here’s important notes so check the below threads before jumping in without knowledge:
