I did do them at the same time, and it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Most of my wrenching experience is just dirt bikes and ATVs, so I was feeling pretty intimidated, but since it isn't a daily driver, I was able to take my time. For me, the worst part was getting a new oil pan...
It's not a bad job at all. Takes about 10 minutes to get the door panel off. Once the panel is off, you just remove the nut that holds the handle onto the door panel.
Here's a good video that shows how to remove the panel:
I've had mine replaced twice and determined that if I fill mine above the "Low" mark when the engine is cool, then when the engine gets hot, it will either break where the black section attaches to the white section, or it will leak from the cap like your video shows.
You must've read my mind. Thanks for the link. I went ahead and ordered one. Even though Whipple is sending a new pulley, I might as well use this is an excuse to upgrade it.
You and luc got it right. Poor anodizing.
I haven't used anything other than cheap Harbor Freight microfiber towels to wipe the dust off. The discoloration is even on the back side and in the grooves. The suddeness of the change after 10 months of it looking normal is what had me most...
You nailed it. Whipple got back with me and said they occasionally have batches where the anodizing process hasn't been done correctly. Even though the warranty is up, they're sending a new pulley.
Has anyone else seen something like this happening with their Whipple pulley? Due to some unexpected medical issues, the car has been sitting for 2.5 months, but when I opened the hood to make sure rabbits haven't chewed my wires I noticed the pulley had changed to more of a copper color. 2.5...
I was getting the same error with the Whipple tune on a GT, so I emailed Forscan support and they sent me a strategy number.
I'm sure yours will be different, but below is what their reply looked like.
"Hello,
Please use this strategy code:
KR3A-14C204-BGF
Or short version of it:
KR3ABGF...
I'm definitely an amateur with these things, but it seems like a wire or connector is occasionally shorting out and popping fuses. If it was me, I'd pull the bumper cover and go over every inch of the harness. It's tedious, but not difficult. The original installer might have been sloppy, so...
I was concerned about it also, but bought some taps and a mount from Amazon, and it went very easily. Using Uniden R8. The pics probably look confusing, but will make sense one you pop the cover off and watch the video posted earlier...
To be honest, I don't know enough about the differences to answer that, so I messaged UPR. I'm guessing it will probably be a couple days before they get back with me, but as soon as they do, I'll let you know what they say.
Never used. The bracket and can were test fitted, but hoses were never attached and system was never used.
