lol @ Civic doing the ring under 8 minutes...

It would smoke my poor Ecobust. I'm increasingly disappointed with how many cars in the price range beat it. Maybe if you go four-cylinder, you should stick with the Japanese or the Germans, who seem to know the damn things better. I just *loathe* the ricer stereotype here, though.

Slapping fart cans and big-ass wings on everything.

when some of my guy friends (in their late 30s) found out I was considering a Mustang, they questioned my sanity:
1) you are a professional, why dont you get a BMW, Audi, Lexus or a Benzo. come on man.
2) why are you ? still in high school?
3) it drives like a POS
4) why dont you get a real muscle car like a Challenger

Total ignorance. As you know.

1? Find me a Bimmer, Audi or Benz with anywhere near as much performance and comfort for the money. Not happening at $36K. A FWD Benz? No thanks. Audi S3? A little 4-door, not in the same league. BMW 228i? Closer, but no where near the power and a much cheaper interior.

2? No. Ask me again if I put an x-pipe and loud pipes on it.

3 is pretty out of date. Drive a '15 and ask me again.

4? Because I didn't WANT a one-dimensional wheel-spinner.

Tell 'em that some of us don't like owing the banks our firstborn children just to satisfy their expectations.

2) why are you ? still in high school?
The Mustang grew up a lot with this generation. Tell 'em to f*ck off.

3) it drives like a POS
Drives better than a 2012 Mercedes C250 I owned.

My slow-ass Ecoboost smokes V6 Challengers AND 5.7L Challenger R/Ts. The SRT Challengers and Hellcats are good cars, though. But a 5.0 should smoke anything except the Hellcat -- which is really a drag car anyway. Buying a SRT or Hellcat isn't a bad option, but the Mustang is a better value for the money.

here are my reponses to them:
1) I COULD get a BMW, Audi or Benzo. I drove 328 , C300 and A4 but think the new Mustang feels MORE solid especially in the interior.

BMW 3 series' interior feels hollow and cheap. they dont build them like they used to 10 years ago.

C300 feels sturdier inside. A4's look is too outdated.

I bought the Mustang because I ENJOY driving, like the idea of being part of the American/Mustang history and DON'T care if some snob is judging me thinking I'm broke. Sure, I could pay more for an M4. But I'm no race car driver (newbie on stickshift) so why pay 3x? so that I can say I have an M4? More money in my pocket every month!

And no, I dont want a luxury Toyota that's numb driving feeling.

2) Average age of a Mustang owner is in the late 40's and early 50s.

3) IRS in the 15 model baby

4) Do I look like Vin Diesel? Compared to the Mustang, Challenger, Charger and Camaro just dont look nearly as nice. but that's just MY taste. when it comes to interior, Mustang wins by 10000000 miles. the 15 interior just looks sophisticated.

as for my friends:
1) one guy drivers a Lexus ES350
2) one guy just switched from an A4 to a 435i. I told him there's NO way in hell that he can HONESTLY say the 435 looks BETTER than the 2015 Mustang.
3) one guy still drives a 15 year old Maxima when he does drive

I get the misconception and bad image of American cars. but I think after 2008 recession, american cars have gotten a LOT better in design, performance, reliability and value to compete against the Germans and the Asians.

I showed my buddies pics of my car and the pony projection and they were quite impressed.

I don't get that image with Ford. GM? Yeah. Chrysler, definitely. But Ford has done a pretty decent job of keeping up with the times.

Take Europe, for instance. Ford is miles ahead there compared to GM and Chrysler.

The 70s and 80s were dark times for all American manufacturers. Ford too. But Ford grew up... Chrysler never really did. GM is trying to, but needed our tax money to make the effort. I like a lot of German cars (my wife drives a VW Sportwagen -- nice car), but I think they are overpriced, generally speaking.

Guy: *Is very jealous of my new car*
Guy: Is it a GT?
Me: Sadly no.
Guy: LOLOLOL, why didn't you get the GT? Hahaha! Junk!
Me: Well...I...
Guy: And an automatic too? LOL!
Guy: So slow. I bet I could beat you with my manual Civic.
Me: Fine, when you want to go?
Guy: Nah...well um I don't wan't to race.

Oh, also get crap from another guy who drives a 2001 Mustang GT. "Mustangs should only be V8s".

Sorry but the Mustang is not smoking the SRT or Scat Pack challenger, especially the auto. Many of those cars are putting down 12.2-12.4 stock times. And because they do tend to spin wheels so bad there are a number of cars that are at 11.9 with just tires.

They are definitely cars for different tastes but the SRT is faster in the 1/4 mile. Different game entirely in the handling arena.
