Didn't Ford put out a recall to convert the spin on filters to canister?

Had new a 16 GT350 and 17 GT350
The MY '15/'16 GT350 have spin-on style oil filters that can vibrate loose if they aren't torqued on properly. The '17+ have the canister style filter which fixes the issue. It doesn't seem very common, but the spin-on filters have been known to come off and cause serious problems. This is the first accident I've seen that someone suggested the cause was the filter coming off - but maybe it happens a lot more than I'm aware. I have a '16 GT350 with the spin-on filter, so it is a little disconcerting to see 😯
My 17 had a spin on thought they changed them in 18.

No they didn't do a recall just changed to canister in 2018. If you oil the gasket and torque it on to specs written right on top of the filter it ain't gonna come loose.

Actually it was late 2017. My 2017 is canister. I must be confusing with oil line recal.

The driver responded later that he's OK, has a bruised hip and a nose bleed from the airbag. In my book that's "walking away" but whatever.

Gotcha, didn't see that. And that's even more impressive then how well these cars protect the driver.

I don't think so or I would have an open recall on my '16... but they did have a canister conversion kit available for a time, but I can't seem to find one anywhere. I even emailed FP, but inquiry to went unanswered.

If you oil the gasket
I feel like I've heard both "Do oil" and "Do NOT oil" the gasket on these. Anyone have definitive instruction from Ford on this?

I know that the torque spec is labeled on the filters so that should be obvious to anyone doing the change

In my book, walking away means you open the door of the car after the crash and literally walk away.

Being cut out of the car and being taken to the emergency room doesn't quite constitute walking away. He was pulled out of the car by a firefighter and ambulanced away from the crash scene.

60... yeah lol
Good you are okay obviously.

I just think they are building a "foundation" for a case in court with the "filter came loose" -IMO
Or just self preservation trying to avoid a reckless driving ticket, potential arrest and liability for damages due to the crash.
