I can see your point about his freedom to do this, but there's a reason that sanctioned racing events have safety rules: lots of people died in unsafe race cars proving that they were necessary. If anyone is being irresponsible, it's the organizer for allowing it.So he wrecked his car, legally racing, on a race track with the gear of a typical HPD event. As a licensed road racer, race clinic instructor, and race director I have zero personal issues with his informed choice to do so. The safety factor is far higher than almost any other demonstration of sustained speed short of regulated racing...
