So he wrecked his car, legally racing, on a race track with the gear of a typical HPD event. As a licensed road racer, race clinic instructor, and race director I have zero personal issues with his informed choice to do so. The safety factor is far higher than almost any other demonstration of sustained speed short of regulated racing...
I can see your point about his freedom to do this, but there's a reason that sanctioned racing events have safety rules: lots of people died in unsafe race cars proving that they were necessary. If anyone is being irresponsible, it's the organizer for allowing it.

Looks like a lot of fun, but not something you want to do in a $60,000 dollar car. (or a $20,000 dollar car for that matter)

Also not the safest thing to do.

Yeah that thing was toast after that hit. Maybe we are all assholes and he had track insurance. At least he crashed at a track and not @ cars and coffee lol.

People are brutal, the guy's in his 50s and he made a mistake. I don't understand yet why the mustang is so prone to getting out of control dry or rain. If it's raining, I can guarantee I'll see any model year at least one in the ditch. What I've noticed of owning my GT350 that if I'm driving on the road that there is a chance that if I hit a pebble or an uneven pavement that the wheel will steer. I hate that. That is soooo unsafe. Probably the reason the guy spun out like that with that much power to the ground.

There's another view of the incident online that shows the beginning of the spin and it looks like the driver lost it coming out of the turn onto the front straight. The back end bobbles a bit then it snaps around and heads off the track backwards. He might have tapped the back bumper of the car he was chasing, but it's hard to see and that car continued without any problems, so probably not. There's no doubt that the driver was competent - he was fast and in control right up to the point where he wasn't.

I usually try to not sway conversations as such because we only see so much but is it me or does it feel like GT350's are dropping like flies left and right?
