So I just ordered 13 more 2087 filters. Apparently, the "new" spec is the 2087-A. Which appears to be basically the 2062-A, just with white/synthetic media filtration.

I lived through the covid 2087 drought. Not again. I already had a decent cache on hand after they became available again.

There's an outside chance the 2087 gets discontinued or difficult to get (AGAIN). So buy them now before the resellers and rapists are charging $100/filter.

It won't be as bad as the days when dealerships were turning people away for oil changes because they couldn't get the spec'd filter, they'll use the 2087-A. But if you're remotely concerned about filter collapse and you like the protection of the metal frame, get yours while you still can.

Do the filters have a shelf life?
Not one that I'm concerned about. I don't plan on keeping them more than 10 years. And as long as they're stored out of the sun, they'll be just fine.
