Mobil has 5W40 Euro as well
Hmm, I have never seen it on the shelf around here, but their web site says you’re right.

I did use the 0W40 euro spec on turbo Saabs for many years (until Saab’s untimely demise) and never had any engine or turbo problems, even up well past 200k miles.

The oil forums all say the 0W40 is the better of the two anyway

I would imagine that the 0W40 must have more viscosity modifying additive than the 5W40. Since it is generally the viscosity additives that shear the most, not the base synthetic, the 5W40 should be more stable in that regard.

I’ll be using Penzoil platinum 5W30 in my Mustang 5.0 engine. Even if it shears down faster, it should still have better wear properties than the 5W20 Ford recommends. At 10 years old, the car is well out of warranty. But w/ only 18k miles on it, I’d sure like to keep it for a long time.

No offense but if you’re not 60+ why not just do your own oil change? Ford is using garbage motorcraft oil anyways.. it’s soo easy on these cars and you know it’s being done right and you get to learn more about your vehicle by doing your own mods and maintenance

That doesn't always work out that way. Plus the base oils were at one point different between the two, but I think they may be the same chemistry now? The Mobil 0W30 is also highly recommended.

Probably doesn't matter much at all in the big picture either way.

Mobil 1 Euro Spec is 0W40.

My time is my own (retired) but I’m not waiting around for hours to get an oil change. I can change the oil myself at home in about an hour, taking my time, and checking everything else out that should be looked at every 5k miles. I also know everything will be done right.
Not just 0w40, it also is available in 5w30, 5w40 and 5w50

Hi what are you basing your comment on , that "Ford is using garage Motocraft oil anyways" . Ive been researching what I already confirmed a while back , with all the rest top tier Oils , Motocraft is produced by Conoco Phillips or I believe currently Phillips 66 . Can you provide some documentation to back up your comment ?

Who uses any of those brands of oils? I think the only place I've even seen Kendall oil for sale is the grocery store or the small off-brand parts stores.

I used it on my first oil change and blackstone labs proved it was breaking down already at 2200miles.. that is way too early to already be breaking down. I switched to Penzoil ultra platinum and it was better but still at 3000 mile oil change was below average for viscosity and other factors. I have since switched to 5/50 amsoil as im
Supercharged now and even though my motor is under way more stress the numbers are perfect and the oil is performing amazing! I am not saying motorcraft is the worst but there is a lot better choices to be made. That’s all. To each their own though. I am
Going Off lab samples and what the lab is saying..

Thank you for adding some quality content, a quality explanation is more valid that a blank statement of garage oil.

I didn't have a very good experience with my Ford dealer. I only went there once. My car was using a lot of oil, they couldn't even tell me what oil they used. I changed to Penrite 5w40 and not had a problem since.
Seems Dealers are the same world wide.

Yesterday I scheduled a confirm oil change appointment at 1.30 , I arrived at 1.15 at 10 minutes to 3.00 they still didn’t start the oil change!! Does this seem reasonable for a ford dealership the oil change was completed by 3.30 should I complain or what would you do?
No, you’re not being reasonable. Ever think that one of the Techs had to leave to take care of a sick child? Or take a parent to the hospital? Or they were in an accident earlier that morning and were running behind?

There’s a million reasons. Get over it.

Like others said, if you don’t like it, do it yourself.

Btw, what do you do for a job?

When I was young I always did my own oil because money was tight… Now I’m older and money is not as tight I still do my own oil and here is why… it forces me to get under the vehicle and look around a little bit. Over the years I have found numerous small issues during oil changes that I was able to take care of before they became big issues. I’m an old man now, and I grunt and groan climbing under a vehicle, but it’s worth it to me!

Even if this was the case, they should have told him, "It's going to be 2 hours, do you want to reschedule for another day?"
