This is exactly what I've pondered about the years, as we hear about, for example, Dodge/SRT Hellcat/Demon products getting stolen and carjacked - thinking, hey, GT350 owners would be "safer" by some margin than say GT500 owners. However, I guess there's always a low life thug who knows how to row his own.

The worst is the justice system, because even in self defence, OP would have most likely ended up behind bars.

Glad it all worked out and you were definitely level head and thought things through. Many people don't realized that open or concealed carry (We have both in CO and GA) still only allows that you fire in very specific cases. I've been to Mt Pleasant many times and never really gave it any thought there may be criminals/idiots like that...but of course I do know it can and does happen any and everywhere.

Since there was no prior incident, I wouldn't necessarily say it was road rage. Most likely jealousy or someone looking to commit a criminal act, regardless of what the act was supposed to be.
