Update: I jumped the power for the harness directly to the battery positive. Unit started working. Trims look good.

AFD is going to redesign the harness and send them out to affected parties. This is an issue with newer model Gt350s and a voltage regulator on the fueling harness. I will be the guinea pig and keep you guys posted.
Congratulations!

I should add tip in power, transient throttle, off idle are all SIGNIFICANTLY improved. It revs all the way to 8k smooth as butter.
Hey thanks for all the info and all your work man. Awesome to have a few guys on a forum fix a problem for a company and other owners. I'll message them today and make sure they throw the new harness in! Til then I'll just run gas.

There are more backfires than before but it's not so significant. It has to be the perfect storm of letting off the gas after a certain load etcc for it to happen but it does happen more
by backfire do you mean a loud "pop" or "pow"? i get that probably 1/3 of the time (maybe less) when i go from 1st to 2nd OR 2nd to 3rd, shifting around 3500 or 4000 rpms. gonna baby the car and put 91 back in until the new harness comes.

i'm also wondering how many guys have the AFD and an R (or resonator delete).

I have the delete....just a straight pipe replacing it. My car pops a lot on normal gas. In gear changes, feathering the throttle in RPM descent etc...

with this Commander shifting into higher gears, when I let off the gas I got a quick pop or a bang. never used to get it running on 91 and without the proflex. that's what I'm trying to figure out if it's normal or not.

It is for me...not every shift but some of the time. As I've diluted the E60 with more gas I've gotten more pops all around(back to normal), but with the e60 every once in awhile I would get this awkward backfire pop after a gear change. It wasnt the normal one I was used to....it almost had a lag to it. Happened like 3 times in a half tank of driving. Wondering if it will still do it with a working commander. But other than that, I get pops all the time, at a lot of different times. As I said before, I bought the car new in october and i have 13k miles on it now. I stretch its legs every day at some point too and haven't had any issues or lights until fueling e85 without a working commander despite all the pops i get on a normal basis. Other than the sporadic awkward backfire, I get considerably less pops overall as ethanol content increases, hope this helps.

its like a pop, i don't know, probably because fuel trims are still settling in, its not very frequent at all. Just a note guys, i started it in my driveway and got a couple misfire codes on startup, cleared them didn't come back. I think im going to need to give this unit a full tank run and see how it does. Im pretty sure its just learning trims, but we shall see.

Power and response further up the rpms are definetly there, and its super smooth.

Thanks man! I'm glad I could contribute. There is so much good information I have learned from this community, so it all comes around. For example, I just disabled my double honk when the engine is running when you get out. Never wouldve even realized this was possible without the Forscan thread!

I was just thinking about this scenario with 91 vs e85 or even 93. I'm not a chemistry expert, but I believe higher octane fuel takes longer to burn, so its more likely to continue to burn after the exhaust stroke while the gases are coming into the manifolds.

There are so many other variables though, and I think fuel trims are a HUGE part of it. I think once you get the commander in, it would be good to keep the same fuel in it consistently if you can so the fuel trims don't have to keep changing. Even though the commander is doing most of that, fuel trims change based on load/rpm too, and e85 is going to need a slightly different trim profile than E40 for example. My estimation is after running through a full tank, things would have pretty much settled down and it will be running pretty close to how it does normally on pump gas. Time will tell.

@mmakam2 , good stuff through and through man. thanks for taking the lead in all this and being the mad scientist and the guinea pig. i was talking with gray today and he was telling me how you worked with him and AFD to try to figure this stuff out. hey maybe they can hire you over there?

i'm gonna baby the car for a while as i wait for the new harness. not looking forward to swapping out those injector plugs again but whatever. so long as it all comes together i'll be happy.

alright guys..

I keep getting misfire codes from rough starts. Also idle is still rough in general. It seems a little underpowered under 3.5k. This time from being rich not lean.

After you get into the power it feels great.

If I can't get the misfire codes issue resolved, I will be taking the kit off for a conventional flex tune.

I would go ahead and return the Proflex since they haven’t tested it in the newer GT350. Sorry to hear it isn’t working out, you guys have done a hell of a job working out the issues.

Can't tell you all what to do but I would give the kit a chance. It's easy enough to install, and there are people making power and having zero issues.

Let's see what they have to say about my situation on Monday, maybe its something they have experienced before.
