I’m not sure on sourcing the springs or looms etc (other than Ford or a breakers yard).

I’m sure I read that A) the ford spring is stupidly expensive and B) the dodge spring is much cheaper and identical (if we can source it in the U.K.).

I don’t know if you need to wire them in the same way as ford do, or if you could do something more easy / basic.

The Ford logic has them moving around, even in the same drive mode :

I guess most people who mess with an active exhaust from how Ford intended, are probably only interested in full closed (quiet mode) or full open (track mode) :like:

I think that’s all I’d be looking for too wide open or closed for quiet when needed. If that’s the case it shouldn’t be hard to modify the actuators to have on a switch. Now to decide on a used 2018 active or the cobra active.
There’s a 2021 exhaust on ebay for £950 with actuators with no wiring harness and would need to buy an H pipe for that but then I’d need actuators and harness for the cobra unless I get something aftermarket.

I managed to fit an active exhaust to mine all in for under £600 using a OEM 2018 exhaust as I wanted the quad tip look but didn't want to spend a fortune at the time on the Ford Performance GT350 Active kit that was £3k+

This is how I did it:

-Found a used 2018+ OEM exhaust, in my case it was one from a Bullitt with the black tips. managed to find it cheap on eBay - £300

-MP Concepts Quad Tip Diffuser - £180
https://nemesisuk.com/collections/m...mp-concepts-mu15-18gt-df-quad-mustang-2015-21
Originally, I just cut my rear diffuser but it looked messy so took a punt on this. Fitment is tight but acceptable.
The standard colour matched lower diffuser can be cut in a way that you can reuse it should you need to return to stock.

*I believe any 2018+ catback or axle back should work but might need some adjustment on the hangers to centre the tips. My friend has fitted 2018+ Borla S-type actives to his with some adjustments to the hangers.

-Valve Controller from Aliexpress - £100
https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/32833832547.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.35.31df4d3d1nh6Ow&algo_pvid=2f26c2e6-de80-4ba1-811a-b258dd4ef08e&algo_exp_id=2f26c2e6-de80-4ba1-811a-b258dd4ef08e-17&pdp_npi=3@dis!GBP!78.07!71.04!!!96.31!!@2145265416886584830374771d072b!66002445253!sea!UK!0&curPageLogUid=yfz5UcMmP5WN

These are almost identical to what is used on the OEM 2018+ cars. Only difference is OEM cars run PWM so they can be mapped to the different driving modes, where as these are much simpler.

I have since removed the resonator and fitted a Borla Switchfire X pipe which sounds really good in my opinion.
The valve controller you got did you just use the actuators and controller and discard the valve as you had them on the exhaust already ?

I have a feeling that one on ebay has been on there for ages, probably because of asking £950 for it!! 😂 You would not be able to use the actuators from is as they are PWM controlled, which the controller wouldn't be able to utilise. I did consider trying to use my OEM actuators, however I couldn't be bothered with the faff trying to learn how to program them. I would just stick the the Aliexpress kit. Actuators from other OEM's are likely to also be PWM controlled and the Aliexpress kit is literally plug and play.

I would guess that the listing does have the springs need though, however at £950 I'd probably consider going for an aftermarket system. The springs you should just be able to go to any Ford dealer and they can order them for you using part number: JR3Z-9449-A

Another option I have seen is this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195563521311?hash=item2d887e851f:g:7JcAAOSwyyFjyACp
You could then just add any H-Pipe to it. German based company too so might work out better for import and tax for you? Only this is I haven't been able to find any sound clips though 😕

Yeah that's correct. Discarded the Aliexpress valve and spring.

Here is a sound clip sounds a bit off. Sounds like a whoosh of an intake or something 🙈

with the OEM exhaust the actuators can be taken apart and rewired so they can work on a switch.

as you said £950 is too much for it. I could always make an offer and see what they say. Realistically it should be no more than £500 or £600. I know you got yours for £300 which was a steal.

Anyone know if the x pipe on the xforce cat back system can be changed for another brand of H pipe ?

I'd say yes as it replicates the shape of the OEM system therefore another H or X pipe replacement would fit. You'd check the pipe diameter as there used to be 2.5 inch and 3inch cat back systems.
Tbh it's something be thought of doing but I should spent my money on other things ha

😀I know the feeling !
The Xforce might be the easiest way for me to get an active exhaust. Just don’t like the fact they don’t make an H pipe. Also in the US the system comes with 2 X pipes as part of the package from what I see. Can’t see why they’d give 2 Instead of choosing which one you’d want ! One is resonated and one not. Is this the case over here ?
Go to 3m55s in the video.

it is strange how the give such nice extras but above is for the facelift model and we ain't got that hence we're here lol. I like my Varex, quiet as stock when closed and no bark on start up like the facelift models even in quiet mode and then obviously a lot louder when opened up but i'd say not as loud as facelift models. However, you could change that by swapping out the Varex suitcase for an xpipe though obv that extra kerching.. My actual Xforce Varex before fitting
varex exhaust.jpg

Interestingly they also do the 2018+ in the EU store which has the X-pipe and the quad pipes..

How much does stock exhaust routing alter down the car or it is purely the rear valance. Dunno man, it is not a cheap decision to rush into.

From what I have read it’s just the rear valance that needs to be changed everything else is the same.
I asked xforce about it and they confirmed it’s just the valance too.
The quad exhaust doesn’t have the big resonator like yours just an x-pipe so should be louder.
I might ask xforce if it comes with 2 x-pipes. Bit mad if it does. I’d rather the exhaust cheaper than get 2 X-pipes. Can always sell one if it does or sell both, get an H pipe and get some money back.

Xforce confirmed they only come with the resonated version here in Europe. Only the US get 2 versions in the box.

the US pre facelift shows only resonator box, just like mine above. You could of course buy the back boxes and wiring/fobs from Xforce EU and then get your own exhaust with whatever centre configuration made up from front to back. Always an option?

From what I can see Xforce don’t make quad axle backs with varex but I’m after asking them so I’ll see what they say.

https://xforce.eu/VMK5-300/VAREX/Varex Mufflers x2 ?

get an exhaust made up to suit the front>back
That’s another option. I’ll see I could always give the X pipe a go and change it out if I don’t like it.
Now to find a GT500 rear diffuser that fits.
From looking at say the GT350 version I’m not sure two 4” would fit in the cutouts if I take off the tips that come with the diffuser.
