It looks like the oak trees really went into high gear this year. Their pollen in the spring was a carpet and prevented me from cleaning my car for the first month. Now the acorns are the heaviest ive seen in years and cleaning my car yesterday there were some clear dents from them. The decklid has two, and the hood another few. From the past month i have just as many dents as my past car has from 4 years.

This is probably a combination of the acorn artillery and the thinner metal being used. Besides garaging does anyone have a good remedy for these? Do car covers help to alleviate these issues?

A quality cover would help.

Apart from some sort of padded cover, it'd be better to cut/trim the trees or park away from them.

I can sympathize, we've got two big oaks over a deck in back that will nearly cover it in acorns in fall. Had them trimmed just this summer.

Sucks, man. My cousin has some damned crows that drop walnuts on his '14 GT. He's got a few dents that way. He needs a pellet gun...

Look for a reputable PDR guy in your area. Those debts can be easily removed and after the job is done, you won't be able to tell there was ever any damage.

The cost is usually anywhere between $80-$150 depending on how many dents and how accessible the area is with the PDR tools.

If having to park outside - just stay away from the trees (IF at all possible). Not only due to acorns or varmints, but also because of tree sap.

Yeah it started early this year and its heavy. I remember as a kid trying to get the last few days out of our pool and stepping on them on our cement walkway, Ouch! Trimming isnt in the books and they seem to be strategically located around the property to cover it all.

Looks like i may pick up a cover (good for snow days too i would guess) and i may fix what i have with a PDR guy.

Bumping this TTT

ALL BE WARNED, THIS CAR IS ALERGIC TO ACORNS.

so i walk out today and the acorns have been coming down, like really coming down. I walk past my old 2007 gt and i see them on the hood but no dents. I get to my car and FUUUUUUUUUUUUJUUJHUUUUUUUUUUUU.

Its litereted with dimples, all over. It looks like someone took a box of ball bearings and just dumped them on top of my car. Its bad, i never seen a car get hit this bad and its all from one day. In one day it has more acorn damage than my other took in 5 years in the same spot

I have a few PDR guys coming to give me estimated but it looks like the exhaust money is now gone.

Change the thread title to "Big nuts keep denting my car!"

These cars are built out of paper. I'm pretty positive. Rock chips and everything else. Invest in a family of squirrels. Slip them some bird seed and they'll get fat on your abnormally large nuts. :amen:

my 2007 next to it hardly looks touched. When the guy came today he thought it was hail damage. I would hate to see actual hail damage on these things. This is looking like close to a $1000 lesson for me.

Invest in a family of squirrels.
I parked my '14 GT500 in a friend's driveway under an oak tree. Came back out a while layer to leave and there was a surprisingly large green turd splattered on the hood. Looked up and saw that the car was right underneath a squirrel nest in a branch of the oak tree.

At least there were no dents and it washed right off...

Yeah it's been a horrible year for everything tree-related around here. First the pollen earlier in the Spring, and the sap, and the blossoms, now the acorns and leaves (if you don't clean them off and the area the oak leaves and blossoms are acidic and will leave stains).

The idiot that lived in our old house before us decided to plant Pecan trees on both sides of the driveway. Not did they leave dents, they stain the paint too.

Yup...brand new 2017 mustang with less than 500 miles...out for a nice fall ride here in mass and BAM!! A fn acorn slams right into the hood. I kid you not that this thing almost went through the hood. I can't believe how big of a dent it left. Just put several coats of wax on her too...she was perfect...until now! Is the hood made from aluminum foil?? :tsk:
