been discussed at length.

a non tuned GT, should be fine on 87. You wont get any better performance on 93, but you may get degraded performance on 87. all depends on conditions.

personally. i use 93, but every now and then for no reason, will put in 87.

oh joys of wanting an intake and needing a tune is gonna give me no choice but to use 93. bah
haha, yeah now that I've been using the 87, I don't want to tune either...warranty and extra out of pocket costs in gas lol.

Yeah every other day, you're talking 3-4 fillups a week, I would run the 87. Even if you do lose a couple hp you're not going to be able to tell a difference.

yes and you paid 58 dollars are so for a tank of 87, the first tank is included in overall price. I told my dealer I want and expect 93 gas and want to see receipt. They did no problem as it was only 43 to fill so they still made 15 bucks on the tank of gas.

All = your salesperson sucked.

All depends how much you drive. $8 a tank difference for 93 vs 87 is a lot if you put a tank in every 2-3 days, that adds up fast. The GT only loses (reportedly) 1% hp with 87, so a whopping 4.5hp.

To save possibly $65/month if you fill up twice a week and only lose a whole 4.5hp to daily drive is not a bad proposition.

You are right and I should have realized this because I live in Albuquerque where the gas is one or two octane less than at sea level (86 octane regular and 91 premium).

I have noticed when I use 87 and go zero to full throttle very quickly (I don't race) that I hear a bit of clatter for the 1st split second of throttle. I don't notice it every time though. 87 seems fine otherwise.

This is totally normal. What you are hearing is 'spark knock.' The octane rating of fuel (87, 89, 91, or 93) is the fuel's resistance to spark knock. the engine has sensors on it to detect the onset of knock and parameters are adjusted to keep it right at the threshold. This is why the power is reduced for 87 octane vs. 93. For 93 the threshold is higher and therefore the parameters can be slightly more aggressive.

I can't tell the difference, so I always run 87.

V6 and V8 will have less than 5% performance loss between 87 and 93. Not worth the extra $$$ unless your track racing.

However, the ecoboost loses around 15-20% performance which makes it worth it. Here in Canada we have 94 which gives mine even more power.
The V6 is rated at full engine power from the factory on 87. 'The GT and the EB will lose power if not using premium fuel.

i pulled up to the pump today and it had a sign that says "87 only use the other pumps for 91 and 93"

well i was too lazy to move the car so i decided to try a full tank of 87. i don't feel a difference yet and have not heard anything odd at WOT.
