What I had in my head was this tone—but with the “sample rate” turned way up. Throw a supercharger into the mix and everything happens faster, sharper, more urgent… and I think that would change a few opinions around here.
The goal from day one was to chase that Ferrari 458–style sound—deep, layered low end that builds into that high-pitched, almost “wailing” top note. Right now though, from what I’m hearing, it’s a little thin down low and missing some of that smooth, creamy finish up top. Later on, I could experiment with those cone gizmos that Fluid Motor Union makes and uses to see that that adds a bit more what I'm looking for.
I’m still a bit torn on what to do… but the idea of an engine making those kinds of sounds at a rate that ~850whp brings to the table? Yeah… that’s hard to ignore

#1 : video of it in a parking garage.
#2 : flyby

I dislike these less. But man idk, I'd have to hear it in person.

The video rev posted, sounds decent, but in the car is a different story.

I’m with you 100%. The clip of it revving in neutral sounds way better, and honestly the thing still pulling me toward installing it is how this setup should behave once the car is supercharged. With the blower on, the revs are going to climb much faster and with way more urgency, which should completely transform the character of the exhaust note.

Hate to say it, but it needs resonators to tone down that harshness.

Here’s the difference in my car without them (first vid) and either them second.

I know a lot will say that first video is what they want. But trust me, you don’t. It hurt my head after 20 mins

In no world would I think thats a GT350 if I heard that in the wild. The sound is changed completely. That growl is gone. More C8 than mustang. Is crazy how much an exhaust can change a very pronounced signature sound. You gonna dyno it to see what its making with them? Following to see where this goes.

I completely agree. Previous in the chain someone said a version would be released with primary & secondary cats. Wonder if any videos we have heard is that version. That might be exactly what it needs to sharpen up the tone. Can’t imagine the extra cost with 4 cats though

I like I like, if I go the Concept route, I'll keep this in mind. I do have a set of 3" rez in house...not sure if they fit. Once I get under there and the system is laid out, I'll start brainstorming

Well... I just picked up the car after the 8-4-1 install, and let's just say if anyone has been waiting for one to hit the classifieds, you may want to keep an eye on the For Sale section over the next week or so.

I am honestly beyond disappointed with the way it sounds. I wanted so badly to love it after all the anticipation, but my initial reaction was pretty much the exact opposite. Right now, I'm struggling to find anything positive to say about the sound.

As for performance, it's impossible for me to make a fair assessment at the moment. The car is still on the stock tune, and every time I roll into the throttle in 3rd gear it falls flat on its face around 4,500 RPM, so I can't really evaluate whether the header is helping or hurting.

Maybe a proper tune will completely change my opinion, and I'm hoping that's the case. But if I'm being honest, based solely on my first drive home, the excitement level went from a 10/10 to about a -10/10 in a hurry .I've been around enough cars to know first impressions aren't always the final verdict, but at the moment I'm sitting here wondering how a setup I was so excited about managed to leave me this underwhelmed.

Hopefully a tune uncorks some magic for the next owner because right now my wallet is asking me why I paid good money to be this sad.

On a side note, I did add a QA-1 Carbon Driveshaft, and all is good there...knock on wood

Did you confirm which cylinders they're pairing together specifically for their Voodoo kit?

There's so much that goes into a good performing exhaust and I am worried packaging constraints forced some compromise.

Really bummed to hear you're disappointed after all the time and money. that sucks :(

Yes sir I did confirm what I was sold was for the Voodoo. At this point I dont even want to install my Ultimate Long tubes for the fear of not liking that for some reason... I'm pretty gutted to say the least at the moment

I wanted to do a set of the Celeritech headers for my R but they don't make any...yet, I watched a vid on YouTube of a set on a cammed C6 Vette and immediate I wanted a set but they aren't making them yet, glad you posted this.

I was just looking at their exhaust setup for our cars and it looks like purpose built racecar stuff. That side exit would be phenomenal though.

Can you post a sound clip? I'm curious because I wonder if a resonator could tone down the problem. The other clips, they are very trumpet-y. I'd defer to others more well versed, but if one can tone that down, it goes a long way in making a really good sound.

Side note, Oil temps are up about 20 degrees... The car goes back to the shop to install the Ultimate Long tubes. I want to go Catless ,which I have, but I need xpipe that accepts a 3" collector then I guess I can use a reducer to mate the 3"xpipe to the OEM mufflers.. If anyone has a better suggestion let me know

Ehhhhh... it's going to take a pretty substantial resonator to tame this. I actually bought two 10" resonators ahead of time just in case, and now I'm glad I did but the car is going back to the shop on July 1 to get the set of Ultimate headers I was trying to sell installed but I need to find a 3" xpipe that mates to a 3" collector ,not a 2.5" collector like stock

What's surprising is that every sound clip I've heard online sounded significantly better than what I'm hearing in person. Usually it's the opposite—the car sounds amazing in real life and the camera doesn't do it justice. In this case, I honestly expected it to sound even better in person, not worse.

I'll get some sound clips posted up for you guys soon. I don't see any reason why the sound wouldn't translate well on video, so hopefully you'll get an accurate representation of what I'm hearing.
