I have the 3.73's. Unless I'm planning on getting on it hard from a stop I almost always just use 2-4-6. No reason for the other gears. If it's shuddering, you aren't doing it right. Practice more and ditch that clutch assist spring if you haven't already. Good luck!

This will kill the clutch even more considering We have the rpm hold software in the car. Skipping shifts now cause more clutch wear Especially 2 to 6 and 3 to 6 shifts

never killed a clutch and I've been skipping gears for years.

This car is different than your other cars. How many of your previous cars hold the rpms where the next shift should be? Even a 4 to 6 shift wears the clutch in these cars. Double clutching doesn't disengage the rpm hold either if I remember correctly. The programming holds the rpms for a few seconds or until hitting the brake. That said i still skip shifts but I understand it does cause increased wear on the clutch.

If you have good clutch control and are not aggressive, you can start in 2nd (on level of down grades) with no problems to your clutch.

FWIW, 2nd in this car with 3.73s is STILL SHORTER than 1st was in my C6. That said, I start in second almost every time when normal driving. Even creeping in parking lots. I pretty much only use 1st if I'm going to get shitty.

And as far as the RPM hold...I hate it. Loathe it. Want to burn my car when it does it. Let me drive the God damn car, Ford. I don't need extra gas when slipping the clutch, and I don't need RPM hold between gears.

That was not my car. It is from the AirStream website.

I made a similar mistake once towing way over weight with a short wheelbase SUV.
Long wheelbase is very important to have when towing a large or heavy load. It provides directional stability and supressing trailer whipping. Jack knifing is the worse scenario to experience.

I start at second too sometimes. I just use the friction zone, no problems at all! Especially when its below zero degrees out and the trans fluid is not warm enough thats what i do. First to second on really cold temps and cold engine is a pain.

I tested this, rolling start in 2nd, ran it up to 4000 RPM and switched to 4th gear, and it lugged, below 1500 RPM. My car has 3.55. All the fun is watching the tach move (fast) so I don't know why people would skip gears.
