OP, is asking about for a daily driver / all around performance. He did not ask what gear is best to drag race 1/4 mile.

Go with your gut.... 3.55 - end thread :headbang:

I've done the math (hopefully right) and and it works out that since the PP rear tires are a smidge taller than non PP cars that 3.55s and 3.73s in the end are almost the same gear, down low. At 6500rpm the top mph in each of the gears the deltas are ~1mph, 2mph, 3mph, 4mph, 5mph, 8mph. So the 1-2 shift delta in a non PP and PP (stock) is well, no different, and I can't understand the people that think 3.73 is too short for first but 3.55 is not. I do understand the impacts at the end of of 1/4 mile where the slight delta can impact having to grab one more gear or not comes into play...

For giggles the 3.31 the spreads from 3.73 are ~ 4mph, 7mph, 9mph, 12mph, 16mph, 21mph. Those deltas are noticable. All numbers are rounded to the nearest whole mph too

This is a good point. If you ever plan on going with a different tire size it will play a role. For example if you went to a 295/40/19 on the rear, that is roughly half an inch taller than the stock PP rear tires.

But no one makes a 294/40R19.

The reason for the focus on 0-60, is most autocross courses top out at around 60,

I just drove a friend's PP car today and it reminds me how much I like the 3.73s for around town driving vs. my 3.31s. It just feels....effortless. The Coyote has to work noticeably harder to get up and go with the 3.31s.

With an MT82 if you want best straight line launch I would go with a 3.55 , for road course, and improved traction in corners, the 3.73 torsen is the bomb. But think that only comes with the Performance Package so an extra $3k list, but you get tuned suspension and brembos,

But once you drive a PP you may not want to go back.

Suggestions:
The painted black roof, I think would go well with the rest of the black accent package. And it just makes the car look more expensive, like it has an all glass roof or something.
And 3.55 gears

I just got my 2017 GT Premium (400a), PP, nav, recaros 6 months ago.

But if I was doing it over, I'd go with:
401A
PP (yes, even though I wish I could do 3.55 gears)
black roof
nav.
reverse sensing

ie: I'd drop the Recaros, step up to 401a (from 400a) and add black roof & reverse sensing.
I agree 401a is nice (the BLIS alone makes the package worth it), as is the Nav. and reverse sensing. Also if it's a daily driver the heated/cooled seats are awesome. The Recaros look better and I'm sure work better on the track, but I like to cruise around with my windows down to enjoy the exhaust, so it's nice to be able to heat or cool the seats depending on the weather. I wish they make heated/cooled Recaros for the Mustang so you could get the best of both worlds.

3.73 is too much gear for the M6. 3.55 is slightly better. IMO. Really the 3.31 is a great gear for the manual.
+1
I have swapping tge PP 3.73 for a 3.31 ring & pinion on my wish list.

Why are you short shifting?

Shifting at 7000, with the same tires (because the stock rears don't last long). In second (for aurocross) and 4th (for the drag strip), you get:
3.31 - 70mph - 129mph
3.55 - 65 - 120
3.73 - 62 - 114

For autocross, 3 mph can probably save you from a lot of shifting.

Remember ro consider your tire aize, as for aurocross or road course work, most of your tire choices will be shorter than stock, making your gearing shorter as well.

I daily my PP, and just absolutely love it. Plus, the PP as a whole is a ridiculously good deal for all that you get with it. Granted, I'm never going FI, so I don't have to worry about that. It's just so much fun to drive, especially in the twisties.

BMAC, lets switch!I wonder how much for parts and labor to switch us out to 3.55's?
worries me to open the factory sealed Diff though, that's when people say they start hearing weird noises...
