I am at a little over 500 miles now on my GT and feel like a 15 year old kid leaving from a stop at times today! Lunrchy, jumping, all kinds of issues starting in 1st gear. I ended up starting out in 2nd a few times and it took a good bit more slipping with the clutch to get going but it was much smoother.

I am going to look at pulling the clutch spring and see how that changes things. My biggest issue is still feeling the clutch engagement. Its just non existent to me sadly! I love the car but the transmission makes me worried since Ive never had such a hard time picking up a running with a new trans. Time will tell!

I had the same problem in my MT Maxima, MY 2000 There was not a recall but there was a TBS software correction that obviates the oroblem

Just take the stupid clutch assist spring out.
Since I did, my car has felt like every other manual trans i've driven.
Just clicked 18k on my 15 and i've had the spring out before I had the thing 1000 miles...

I took the spring out, it's still weird. I'm going to have to blame the weird rev hang.

Interestingly enough though. I just put on my snow tires and it got better. It's still not 100% but from what it was before it's pretty damn good. They're Nokian Hakkapellita R2s in 245/45/19. I had 275/35/19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

The stock wheels with the Nokians are 10lbs heavier according to my scale.

Maybe the squishier tires absorbs some of the drivetrain shock?

I did two things that make 2nd and 3rd better. First, took out the clutch assist spring. No replacement. Just much better clutch "feel" and easier to modulate. 2nd, I installed the Blowfish Racing shifter bracket. Cleaned up shifting a LOT. Does the same kind of alignment the MGW does - turns the shifter into a top loader. Keeps shifter aligned to transmission and eliminated most of the nibble on 2nd and 3rd.

Note - not comparing to MGW (which is amazing). But the BF is really really good.

Update:

I installed the Steeda clutch assist spring yesterday and it is a night and day difference. Its a learning curve again but all of my shifts are better, smoother and I can actually feel the engagement.

Damn, I need to get one of these springs.
I have grinded gears maybe 2 twice because I could not feel the engagement point.

After about 3k of driving I've found that by depressing the clutch about 1/2 way to the floor really smooths out the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I have the Steeda spring waiting to install but the 1/2 release really helps. :headbang:
Anyone else try this?

I wouldn't only press the clutch halfway because you're not fully engaging you can eventually wear the clutch out

That is not correct. The clutch on our cars is fully releases way before 1/2 travel. It doesn't even start to engage before 3/4 up from the floor. At least that's how mine is.

Yeah I posted on the page two I do the same.... After reading your comment I decided to conduct a test before coming back here to type this. Anything more than halfway the car won't budge no matter how much gas you give it. The sweet spot for our cars seem to be around a 1/4 to 1/2 way down, and anything more than that you are roasting clutch.

I'm narrowing this down to mainly driver error on the shifter issues mostly.

That's not how a clutch works.

My 2013 3.7L MT82 was 10x better than my 2016 GTPP MT82. I've done all the tranny mods except replace the the shifter, it's junk
